I quit a thousand times successfully, but the last successful time was using Chantix also. Now, what to do about the cigars is another story.....:D
I hear you on that lol!! The way I see it is cigarettes are a destructive habit. They are created to be excessive. A cigar is meant to be savored, enjoyed... it's a blood pressure reducer :). It's akin to drinking 12 Budweiser vs say One micro-brew.
And you know what - my doctor agrees :)! She has no problem with me enjoying a good stick now and again. Moreover it must be ok because my health insurance premiums and my life insurance premiums didn't go up when I admitted I smoked a stick now and again.
That's good enough for me :)!! You?? lol!
I dunno about the pills. I generally don't do well with them! :p

Quit when my oldest daughter was born 18 yrs ago. Cold turkey. I smoke one or 2 a year nowadays, I can safely do so as I am no longer addicted.
It's funny because even with the cigars, I feel so much healthier. A stick now and then is a nice Monte #2 in the morning for me. It showed up on a blood test for our insurance carrier too and I am having to pay increased premiums for it, but what the heck. I figure something will kill me eventually in any case.
So, I said screw it and traded in my 98 Roadking on a new 2013 Roadking. Go figure........:beer1:
What next?? No more Vodka?? No way Jose!!
Now about that razor addiction.........
Gots ta has some fun, ya know!!
My cardiologist and I have enjoyed many fine Habana cigars together. : )
Since I was the one doing the asking I feel I should keep quiet and take in your words, but...
I have to relate my previous experience with Chantix. I took it several years ago while in school. I was having some major stomach issues and one of the side effects of Chantix is gas. It was a bad combination of stress from school, stomach problems, and gas causing medication. My "aroma" became so noxious I moved into the guest room. I quit the drug before I reached the therapeutic level because I couldn't bear to be in he same room with myself. Hopefully, with my stress levels and gi problems under control I won't have the same problem this time.
Like others have related, my dreams did become more vivid while taking Chantix but nothing too scary. I had tried Zyban/Wellbutrin in the past and it was disturbing; extremely irritable building up and zombie like when it reached therapeutic level.
Thanks again for sharing gents! Back to listening mode for me.
March 4, 1986, 430PM. I remember when, where and who was there. It was very difficult to do for me. I read the US Army Guide to Physical Fitness which helped a great deal. There was one entire chapter on how to quit.
Good Luck.
