Till well into the 20th century the only liquid safe to drink in many places was ale or beer. The water was bad and the minor addition of the brews' alcohol did a fair job of protecting folks. Yes, Feeding the baby Ale was common and the grain residue was nourishing. A very common breakfast of the working class.

Read an article about him last year, made me think about finances.. so we have been living frugally, and moved to a "cheaper" rental area.. we are saving to buy a house.
