That is very true, and of course the same arguments stand for both USA and EU too.
Big gamers of the world do not act unless there's something to gain, either quick or later.
All the nice words are made for those who tend to believe it easily.

Someday in the future a commercial aircraft might get shot down, an embassy may explode, perhaps a Christian neighborhood is destroyed. And when that happens, someone will end up figuring out that it was done by the use of weapons WE put directly and knowingly in the hands of terrorists.

Indeed, something like this has already happened many times. For example in Afghanistan, our helicopters were getting shot down with weapons provided to the Al Qaeda forces during the Afghan-Russian conflict.

And yet here we are again doing the same thing. But this time, we're doing it with full knowledge of who al Qaeda is and what their intentions are. And we have, as far as I can tell, no real reason to be doing it in the first place. In the former years in Afghanistan you could make the argument against the spread of communism and say that we had no idea who these people were and what they were capable of. We can't say that today. And yet no one seems to even bother to ask why we're doing this. Amazing.

Is it just me or does the rush to arm Syrian rebels seem sort of "fast and furious" in it's implementation, seems like this administration has ignored the laws once before to allow arms to flow into suspicious hands...

That's why this is a no win scenario. Do you supply weapons to these unknowns? Do you let the current Govt crush the rebellion? Do you send troops in? Do you play the diplomacy game allowing the current Govt buy time? Either way it plays badly for us.

You also have to take into account that one of the Syrian provisions of Putin's agreement was that the US stays out of the civil war, which we (Obummer) quickly decided to work around.. Almost seems like the US intends to make sure we have an excuse to help the rebels

From the outside looking in, it seems as thought there is a personal link there that no-body has truly put a finger on other than the Muslim link. What have I missed? I am just tired of having our servicemen's lives thrown away like I do a soda bottle, these powers that be are truly disconnected from what really happens on the "front".

I have complete confidence in the military men and women that do the heavy lifting on a day to day basis. But I have less faith in the top brass and the politicians that direct that brass. I look at the Ft. Hood shooting and the events of yesterday and I can't help but wonder what procedural issues lead to this. And maybe someone who is currently enlisted can shed some light on it for me but it seems that going into a military facility with the intention to do some shooting should be a suicide mission in that you should have a hundred rifles pointed at you within minutes. Apparently that is not the case. Instead we are depending on local police for this?! Seems ridiculous to me. Who would have believed 10 or 15 years ago that infiltration into our ranks like this would have ever been possible. And yet its now happened twice.

Next time you vote,Vote Libertarian,Close our borders.expel the tens of millions from this country who are NOT documented americans.
no more immigration from outside our country.Stop all aid to ALL countrys,stop meddling in other countrys buis.
Maybe than in 20 yrs this country can get it's chit back in order.
