There has always been something that has intrigued me while digging around SRP since I've arrived here. I've noticed a number of users that have "< Banned User >" under there avatar.

Now, obviously, they didn't all arrive with the brilliant idea of adding it themselves.

I should note as a come clean sort of thing, that early on in my SRP membership, I was warned by a mod that my avatar was inappropriate and had been removed. It was a portrate picture of Eric Estrada in his Chips outfit, big goofy smile and the caption "You're a ****(four letter word for a girly man)!" underneath it.

So, that being disclosed, what are the chief ways in which SRP users get themselves banned?

I don't know if you read the forum rules or not (most don't lol), but that's a good place to start if you are wondering how to get banned.

Now I am no authority on the matter, but I figure if you keep in mind the overall mantra of this site... that this is a gentleman's forum that is family friendly, and created to aid those who wish to learn how to wet shave, all will be well.

Heck - I have been in some heated debates on this forum and I am still standing. The key to not getting banned is not taking things personally. Present your argument if you must argue in a well thought out manner (like a gentleman would), and all will be good. When you start to take other peoples opinions that differ from yours and act out like a non-gent by name calling or accusing...

It seems to me the Forum Rules are all pretty common sense, respect eachother kindof stuff.

I don't know. That's why I asked the question. I don't think I've seen a single thread yet that would put someone in jeapardy of being banned.

I just can't see how putting tape on your razor or honing in your pajamas could escalate to an all out. Then again, if you take a gander over at a particular arbor site, the standards for gentlemenly discussion are quite different.

As for not taking things personally... I note that the internet is a great place to become brain washed. Not trying to be funny - I can't recall what its called but basically, as an example, it goes like this:

    - I handled a Sig at the gun store today. I really like it.
    - I went home and watched/read a bunch of positive reviews, some not so positive.
    - Went to the gun store bought said Sig and am getting a ton of complements on it.

Now said gent only reads those reviews that say his Sig is the best. He joins the Sig forum to be around like minded people. Soon he's drank the cool aid and only a Sig works.

Then one day buddy is on a non-gun forum and reads a post where someone is looking for a gun. He spends allot of time and writes a very well written-out post as to why the OP should buy a Sig. Of course he's kind of looking for accolades because he know's he's right about the Sig when some dude out of no where blows the Sig theory out of the water and the OP agrees and buys a Glock lol!!

Buddy is enraged! Who are these people? Don't they know who he is?? What he knows?!

Instead of being gentlemanly and congratulating the dude for getting himself a beautiful Glock, he rails out as though he owned stock in Sig lol!! --- Banned ---

Spammers are banned immediately. Members have to break the SRP Rules Of Conduct found at the very top of the SRP FAQ page. Also in the SRP Library (Wiki). Banning a user is not an arbitrary decision made by a single individual but a team decision made after evaluation of the infraction/s and is usually preceded by plenty of warning to get right with the rules. You might say that we don't ban members, they ban themselves.

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

    Pretty much!

For most of us that isn't too hard, but there's always some who just can't....

It's impressive to see how some people manage to get about anything to escalade....(AKA Trolling )

Those who claim to have been banned from here based on a silly cause like this have most likely been warned several times based on posts they have made, and probably been less than gentlemanly both in the open forum and in PM's with one or several Mod's (possibly also members)

As long as you use common sense and behave like a "normal" person you have nothing to worry about

A small thing to have in mind on the way: "If you're in doubt about what you have written and are about to post, you're probably right and better off not posting it"

    Sometimes I feel normal.
Then it's time to lay down and wait for it to pass.
