I just stumbled upon this story. I do hope that everyone, everywhere can open and watch what a young man did to show his stepfather his love.

That's a sad situation.
Take comfort in the fact that you will always be Dad and Grandpa.
All you can do is give them your love and support.

I have been married twice, the first one when I was 20 and it lasted 6 years and I blame myself for the divorce. I wanted to still be able to party with my friends, go to the hills 4-wheeling etc.
That marriage resulted in a single child who was 2 when we parted. To this day she speaks of how proud she is that her mom and dad managed to stay friends. She remembers the times that her mom and I shared her birthday or a Christmas.
When my brother passed a few weeks ago I asked my daughter if we could travel together to his memorial and she said sure. The next day she called and said her mom would like to also go with us. The three of us had a wonderful trip.
I tried to have the same ind of relationship with my second wife who decided that after 25 years of marriage she wanted to play the field but once she found her new 'buddy' that was out the window.
Fortunately our two kids were 12 and 14 and they ended up living with me instead of their mother.
What I'm getting at is that I do hope that the parents can work things out so that they can at least sit down and talk as there are things coming up in that little one's life that they can't envision.
I hope all works out for the best.Last edited by cudarunner; 10-21-2019 at 03:02 AM. Reason: Fixed a Spelling Error

If you haven't seen this before it's worth a watch, very funny, LSD testing on British troops 1964, there's also a very funny one with the same experiment carried out on American troops.
