    G'day mate,

For those that don't know, the indigenous people of North America did not have any 'written' language. For thousands of years, they painstakingly retold the stories, legends, history etc--Exactly Word For Word--as they had been told for all time.

The day we were at Head Smashed In we were told that many, many years ago a young boy wanted to watch the buffalo as they went over the cliff so he stood under an overhang. After the 'hunt' and as the dead and wounded buffalo** were being dragged off for butchering, they found the young boy dead---

    With his head smashed in.

As our deceased popular radio star Paul Harvey used to say "And that's the Rest of the Story".

I hope all will try to visit, fantastic site.

**We were told that they had braves positioned at the base of the cliff to kill any buffalo that tried to escape as they believed that if any of the survivors were to escape that they would tell other buffalo of what had happened and then the hunt would never be successful again.

Sure looks like one Bob. We only have Woodchucks around me, they are a cousin to the Marmot.

Yep, that's a marmot. I've seen plenty near the rail line by my home.

Well I think that's been agreed upon then. It's a Marmot. Thanks for the confirmation. I was only sure it wasn't a beaver, even though it seemed to be enjoying chewing on that fallen tree at the time. I saw that bloke at Yellowstone, if I remember correctly.
