Same here Bruno. I'm happy to help if I can. Just might take a day or two to ship out from me. I live on the East coast near Boston in the US. I shipped something to Australia via US Postal Global Priority Mail and the charge was $5.05 USD. If it is under 16 ounces, it doesn't even need a customs form. Global Parcel post is a bit cheaper, but takes considerably longer.
As for the 'why' question, it is because of fraud. Many folks have been burned by overseas transactions, so they've got a bad reputation. One of the problems is, if someone commits fraud here, we can simply call our local police, they'll contact the offender's local police and start an investigation. Outside the US, it's not so cut and dry. Language barriers, differing laws and sometimes lack of empathy towards the victim are all possibilities. Last, since the US economy is about the same size as that of the entire EU, many people in the US would rather not take the risk seeing that they can often sell their wears in the US. Note, this it primarily for internet auction type transactions. For retail products, I can't comment.
