And do you say things like "YES, I am invincible" in a Russian accent?

    (obscure James Bond movie reference)

No, but I do say things like "HAIL CITIZEN!" in a dominant tone and refer to myself as X-traordinary (gods, how that's true).

A couple of inexpensive pens to start with are the Lamy Safari or the Waterman Phileas. Two pens you won't be afraid to carry with you daily. I prefer them in the fine nib. My favorite is the Waterman Charleston. I've not had any of the higher end pens, but I've not felt the need (because I spend too much on shaving supplies) to spend any more on fountain pens.

I've played around viewing this site. I neither endorse nor (whatever the opposite of endorse is).

    http://www.fountainpennetwork.com/fo...ex.php?act=idx

It's a fountian pen forum. They have areas for repairs, different manufacturers and (for Xman) a forum on writing.

I liked using the Phileas though I thought it was a bit light in my hands. I agree on the fine nib preference. That is my preference for all nibs but I find a lack of uniformity. What one company calls fine would be considered another company's medium.

I like fine to medium nibs too. I am also a lefty, so that makes fountain pens interesting. I changed my angle of writing which allowed me to avoid ink smears and have better handwriting. At work, they force me to use a ballpoint, but I still prefer my fountain!

One day I'll use a MontBlanc

I like the fine nibs, especially when starting out, because it is easier to control the flow of ink. I have a couple of medium nibs, but seldom use them. Another place to check out for information is FPN. It is the SRP of fountain pens!
