Thanked: 734John Kerry said today that the so called extremists are a threat to Islam and that there is nothing in Islam that suggests that their actions have justification. Where is he getting this? Is this coming from the CAIR representative whispering in his ear? For all that is being done in the name of the religion, I find it hard to believe that matters are as simple as that. But instead of trying to insist, maybe we better do a little more homework on the matter. I firmly believe that there will be another terrorist attack here in the US on the level of 9/11 or greater in the next decade. Perhaps quite soon. If and when that happens, I think it'll be high time to have some frank discussion about this without all of the stupid slogans we roll out in order not to offend anyone. And if these so called extremists are such a threat to Islam, why is it that we are the only ones ready to confront them? How different would our politicians feel about these matters if the plane that crashed in PA found its way to the capital? Would they still be making these stupid statements? I don't know that these slogans will cut it in the public eye if there is another national tragedy. At that point, maybe these statements will be a little more democratic in nature.

I don't expect my muslim friends to apologize for or have to distance themselves from crazy people who call themselves 'muslims' any more than I expect my christian friends to apologize for or have to distance themselves from crazy people who call themselves 'christians'.

If you think about it - if every post were to equal ten minutes of time (time to read thread, think about it, and then respond), you would have spent the equivalent of 291.7 full 8 hour days on the forum.
So considering you started in oh-7, you have spent 42 full 8 hours days on this forum a year.David
