klarus xt10 flashlight
I spent a bit more on this one because it can really throw the light.
klarus xt10 Tactical flashlight
The light has 3 brightness settings (High, medium, low) close to 500 lumens, always starts in high and a strobe that can be used either in momentary or steady mode.

I can't remember how many times I have had to use this little Fenix. Honestly, you could drop me in the middle of the Amazon rain forest wearing a jockstrap, flip flops and this rig, and I could thrive.
Knife, pen, hearing aid batteries, flashlight, dangler, library card. Important! You see I have a bottle opener on the dangler so no worries popping the cap on a real bottle of beer when I am hunting monkeys. I've never felt tactically challenged.Last edited by WW243; 01-02-2016 at 02:04 PM.

I've been geeking out on flashlights for the last year or so. I'm not interested in $100 lights. I like lithium ion powered Chinese lights. My favorite brand is Convoy. I work nights and I usually carry the small grey one (Convoy S2) in my pocket. It's very compact and bright as hell. My wife washed my pants while it was in the pocket and noticed it clanking around in the dryer. Took it out and it worked fine without any trace of water inside. It sometimes doubles as a bath toy for my 4 year old(supervised). Convoy sells lights with many different LED and power options so you need to do a little homework before buying one. I like the U2-A1 LED with the with the 2800ma driver. Crazy bright with a nice neutral white light. It pushes around 12 watts so you don't want to leave it on high for too long(gets hot). I've used expensive lights, but I would take one of these over a Surefire. The lights are under $20 and around $5 for LiIon battery. You need a charger too. I get mine from fasttech.com. If you are interested in These lights don't buy off eBay and RESEARCH LITHIUM-ION BATTERIES. That are very safe as long as you use them correctly.

Thanked: 351Anyone who has not followed the current development in LED flashlights may not be aware of just how powerful some of these lights are. I'll include a link to GoingGear's Youtube page where he takes all the various LED flashlights out for a test against his standard MAG light (I *think* its a standard 4D model, but I don't remember for sure). He mentions his reference Mag light in every video, you just have to listen.
Here's a link to his review of his current favourite, a fairly small ."Aw nuts, now I can't remember what I forgot!" --- Kaptain "Champion of lost causes" Zero

To keep things simple, we use 18650 powered flashlights exclusively. We currently use a Fenix TK12 (soon to be modded with a modern LED); a Lumintop TD15X (XM-L T6, up to 1200lm with extension tube and 2 cells, a generally underappreciated tactical EDC flashlight, have been using it for more than two years, worth every cent); a Nitecore HC50 (the wife's rather nice headlamp with up to 565lm), and my Nitecore HC90 (up to 900lm - best tactical headlamp I've ever used).
I had been thinking about getting a Lupine headlamp, but then decided against it, because we really don't need that much light. Still, if money were absolutely no issue, I'd still replace the Nitecore with a Lupine Wilma.
We have a few more, but these are our go-to ones. None of them exactly cheap, but when your life and limb depend upon properly working lighting, you don't skimp, do you?

Thanked: 3795Other than for inducing seizures, what is the point of the strobe function? Is it to conserve battery life?
