Thanked: 228Hell yeah! Where do you think most of the world sends most of their people to train on all the technologies, engineering etc.? Here, of course. Computer technology? Here! Where does China get all it's people trained in computers, go back, and China gets them to hack into all our computers. Here! Ad nauseum. At one time this country was the most robust, most innovative, most free country in the world. We can be again, iffen the guv'ment would get their foot off our necks, and their hands out of our pockets, and leave us the hell alone!
I know, rant! Gotta watch my blood pressure. LOL.

This isn't true at all. America became technological leader only after it started to import first class brains from the rest of the world in large quantities. Before then it lagged behind Europe and UK.
With just 300 million population it will lose its edge in about a generation after this ongoing import stops.
Believe me US does not have a special 'smart gene' that makes the people born here superior, it's the open system that is attractive to smart and driven people. However, it no longer has monopoly on openness and nowadays it has to compete for this type of people a lot harder than it used to.

Thanked: 20I wont argue about the import of brains I feel differently. What I will say is this, what made america great is that if someone had an idea and a product and was willing to risk it, they could and did make products that changed the world. Henry Ford, Samuel Colt, and Hewlett Packard to name a few did this. This was something that could be done in America that couldn't be done in the rest of the world because of class. Lower class people would never have been able to do this in the rest of the world. I find this to be the same in America now. You can no longer appeal to the middle and lower class here and get financing. If the upper class here thinks that it is something that can make money they will buy you out in a second. Sure you might make some money on the deal but I guarantee you the rich will make more.

Thanked: 1083Reading through these threads l hear and see extactly the same here in the little old UK. This has been going on for decades so I don't suppose much will change and if anyone speaks out your branded a racist.
One thing l will say regarding the OP is that war is big money, the UKs biggest export is munitions and the only reason that us and America are in Afghanistan and Iraq are for financial gains.

Thanked: 375Outsourcing is happening in house too.
Where I work they have effectivly reduced our numbers from 76 employees since I started there 6 years ago to what will be 35 by June of next year. It's a power station there fuel is free (water) they don't lose money ever...Could it be greed? These companies today, are what is destroying us, the corporate model is jacked up. it benefits the company only and no one else. I understand a business has to make money but where do you draw the line?
I realize it's not just companies...I'm just rantingLast edited by Trimmy72; 11-09-2014 at 05:14 PM.

America used to be the "Brain Trust" of the entire world because it scooped up the brightest people from around the world. But of course... the "screw the foreigners war cry" has been heard loud and clear, and the educated aren't coming in droves like they once were. So there - you're winning.
India at least has plans to visit Mars. Europe just put a thing on a rock some six billion miles away, and China is planing on the moon. What's America doing? Oh yeah - outsourcing its space program.
Don't confuse wanted immigration with unwanted.David
