Thanked: 0I'm sure it'll be a great shaver, and I can't wait to have it. Ilija does good work too.
And yes, Ilija, I'm thanking you. Why? Because without it, I wouldn't have gotten back to the lathe for a while, and may have forgotten how much fun it really is, even if I did glue your pen to the mandrel with CA....oops :-/ . Like shaving, the lathe is one of my "Zen Zones". The world disappears when I'm there. I can just turn and enjoy myself, generally without getting bothered by anyone.
Now I'm just trying to figure out some Money Making ventures. Anyone know where to get brush knots? I'm going to try my hand at brushes and bowls soon, I think....maybe.

Thanked: 0funny you should mention it, but I was thinking of doing a blackwood pen with band inlaid. That band would probably be Abalone. It would take some practice with other things first. What would you want inlaid?

Silver disc inlay at the bottom of the brush, done in black ebony, together with a black ebony stand. I had that commission with someone else, but a few things came up and the project never got completed.

Thanked: 0Hmmmm.... Let me see if I'm any good at this brush thing, and figure out how to do stands, and I'll get back to you. If you don't mind waiting until the end of the summer, I'll be better able to judge then. If any sooner, you'll be the first to find out about it.

Oh, no rush on that. I already have a well-functioning brush, so this would be pure luxury in my case. Until then, I have my red 600cc beauty to keep me occupied

Good job Ilija! Looks NOS from here.

Thanks X, but I can't take all the credit for it. The razor is NOS. Originally the surface does contain some minor rust/pitting, but after some work with the flaps and slow rotation buffing wheel to even out the finish, they do start to look good. However I really bow to Harry's workmanship and I still get that nagging feeling that the pen is a steal compared to the razor.

The pen arrived today.. The pics don't do it justice.. It's GORGEOUS!!! Harry did outstanding work on the wood, finished it to perfection and everyone who sees it is going green with jealousy! It has a twist converter, which means that I'll have to get my hands on an ink bottle (got a few more Waterman cartridges left). It's truly priceless!
