I've just got to interject MY opinion here.....
..... good job on the Senators/ass thing! It was WORTH 10 hours - if I'd been in the room at the time, I would have given you a high-five, spent the 10 hours with you and PAID for the beers!
Now....back to the thread!

Thanked: 8I don't trust this site either, but somehow I can picture Bush saying this.
http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles...eceofpaper.htm
Some of his stuff is pretty accurate, but you do have to take his opions with a grain of salt. His stuff on the Waco incident is pretty right on.
The article unfortunatly should have been title the blueprint that is happening in the US right now. It's a real shame.

That was an interesting article. The authors makes a good effort
I do not think that the President G.W Bush means harm this country. I honestly think he means well but unfortunately does not have communication skills (say that of Clinton or Reagan) to press his agenda to the people.
Also he is surrounded by a bunch of in competent fools who have little understanding of other countries, cultures, diplomacy and tact and how to run a country. Some around him have their personal agendas. Those who were a moderate voice left (Powell).
Mind you the good people of the US are not unaware of these issues.(i.e. see election of 2006). The country is starting to recover from it's sense of shock and believe you me this take a while.
Logic and common sense are starting to prevail once again thanks to the electorate. We will land on our feet and regain our credibility.

Well... where to start?
First, although democracy is good, it can be undermined by ignorant voters.
Example.
Kieth Ellison, congressman from MN.
A news reporter was doing a story on the Democratic taking of congress in the last election.
He was speaking to people on the street about if they voted Democrat or Republican.
Reporter: " So who did you vote for? "
Man : " Um...."
Reporter: "Democrat or Republican?"
Man : "Democrat, of course! "
Reporter: " So you just voted Democrat but you don't remember the name?"
Man : " That's right, it's time for some change."
Reporter: "Did you know that there was a Muslim elected to Congress?"
Man : " I don't know who voted for him."
Reporter: " You did."
Man : "............ I didn't vote for any Muslim. "
Reporter: "Democrat Keith Ellison won the race for the House of Representatives beating out incumbent Martin Sabo for the 5th District seat."
Man : " "
I tried to find video of the interview but couldn't. This is however almost word for word how it went.
I'm shocked that some of the people I meet can find a doorknob to get out of the house in the morning.
I have " faith " in no one. Definitely not that guy! What a jackass.

I came acroos this thread a little late, but thought I'd add a quote I found interesting. I haven't verified it's accuracy but here goes:
About the time our original thirteen states adopted their new constitution
in 1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of
Edinburgh, had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some
2,000 years earlier:
"A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a
permanent form of government."
"A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover
they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury."
"From that moment on, the majority always vote for the candidates who
promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that
every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is
always followed by a dictatorship."
"The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning
of
history,has been about 200 years.
"During those 200 years, those nations always progressed through the
following sequence:
1. from bondage to spiritual faith;
2. from spiritual faith to great courage;
3. from courage to liberty;
4. from liberty to abundance;
5. from abundance to complacency;
6. from complacency to apathy;
7. from apathy to dependence;
8. From dependence back into bondage"
I'd say we're somewhere around #6 or 7.
