Engineering friends had been warned not to get on the bridge during heavy traffic. The rivet plates were too thin.

Yes, I remember that sad event happening. Thankfully that did not happen here and there was no loss of life, so far.

This could get real ugly, real fast. No great options to go around even if you can cross into the USA. The route from Sault Saint Marie to Duluth is 2 lanes hiway but more importantly snakes through a lot of small towns. Going to be a lot of excess traffic in those towns south of Lake Superior. Truckers leaving Toronto would likely have to op to go through the Chicago elbow then up through Minneapolis which is already a very busy route.
    This should be interesting.
Keep your concentration high and your angles low!

Despite the high cost of living, it's still very popular.

Well, it is reopened sort of. Check out the counter weights used to reopen the one lane. Talk about a Mickey Mouse solution. Wonder what the permanent solution will look like?

Well, any port in a storm, eh?

My commute into the office this morning was doubled thanks to a couple of accidents and some icy conditions, but in light of what folks had to deal with up there today, I won't complain!! Yikes.

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

I could send some Mexican fellows up. They can fix anything!

Yea, a desperation move for sure. I had heard that you southerners were having to deal with a snap freeze situation. Not fun at all I am sure.

    Welcome to Monday...
At least the Earth is still circling the sun, but yeah, that sounds like a pretty bad Monday.

On behalf of my fellow Americans, you are welcome to use our roads for as long as you need.

I'm still psyched that you Canadians have what basically amounts to a three day Thanksgiving and none of those days match with ours so from on I'm going to celebrate 4 Thanksgivings every year. You guys are smart enough to do a three day weekend Thanksgiving so I'm confident you'll get the bridge sorted out soon.

The 3 day Thanksgiving is to make up for only having 1 main road. It's cheaper that way.
