If you are not getting cold air to the bedroom, then putting a register cover with a booster fan built in will not have any cold air to move. I think you have to boost the volume of air from the furnace fan moving in that duct to the bedroom. Probably a good time to consult a good HVAC guy.

I did talk to the AC guy that put in the new furnace and AC 4 years ago when we moved in.

He explained that the guy that built the house got someone in to do the duct work etc and they used ducts that were too small for this size of house. We could live with it, or we could have the duct work replaced which would mean dry walling and re-flooring the whole house. Replacing duct work in a house that has already been built is a massive undertaking apparently, especially a larger house. And fantastically expensive.
It's not that the cool air doesn't reach the bedroom, more that all the cool air sinks to the lowest point, family room. Conversely, in the winter all the heat rises to the bedroom.

Sorry to hear the ducts are under sized causing the problem. Yea, too costly to rectify now. Good luck with finding a solution.

If there is cold air reaching the bedroom, how about just closing the bedroom door to keep it there and/or putting a fan on a lower level and directing it to circulate air back up the stairs?

I do shut the bedroom door, mainly to keep the cats off the bed actually and a fan in the familiy room might work, I'll try it and let you know if it helps.

A couple of projects for today...

To start with I had an awful paint job done on the front of my car after a run-in with a raccoon. It's chipping badly and I didn't want to have it painted again so I put a bra on my car...

Then I replaced the floor in the entry of my house. It had vinyl but just didn't look very nice. I pulled the vinyl up and found two more layers of the vinyl underneath. So I removed all but one layer as underneath that was particleboard covered in glue and I didn't want to spend the day sanding the damn glue off. I did put a hole in the wall removing the trim on the walls so that is still being patched at this time. But it's finished enough for pics.
    Before...

And yes, I did the inside of the coat closet too.

Then I took the wife to Old Folks Day at the Arc. Second-hand stuff for cheap but older than 55 and you get everything at 50% off on top of that. I found this cool aftershave decanter from Old Spice...Name: IMG_20210615_181144369_HDR.jpg

It's only 6 inches tall but it will make a nice addition to my collection.

Then the wife found a mirror... I picked it up and it was much heavier than mirrors made today so I figured it was a little older. We got it for $12.50. I got it home and removed the backing as it was going to need restored and found it dated May 7th, 1969. It was not cut square but curved to the shape of the frame and a little over 1/4" thick glass. I think it will be a nice and easy project for the future...Name: IMG_20210615_183137040_HDR.jpg

Plus the fact that my day started with ending the Giveaway and finding a winner, I think I had a very busy and prosperous day. Tomorrow I think I have some trim and wall patching to finish before I start replacing the floor in the upstairs hallway.

Back in '72 a friend of mine started dating this girl in Pomeroy WA (which is where I was born and is about 35 miles from where I grew up) and they dated for over two years before calling it quits.

Well back around 2010 this gal and I stumbled upon each other after all those years. No we never dated. However I have helped her with things around her home from time to time and I've even house/dog sat for her while she was on holiday.

Earlier this year I went up and helped her with her flower beds but then got busy with things in my life and hadn't been back and she hadn't asked for more help. Well, not until a couple of days ago.

It seems her Toro lawn mower wouldn't start so she had been paying a neighborhood kid to mow for her. She had been paying her grand kids to mow. She was paying that kid $30 for a single mowing and it's a pretty small yard!! Anyway she'd taken a week holiday and took her dog with her and left the kid a check for the mowing while she was gone.

When she got home I guess it was quite apparent that the lawn hadn't been mowed but the check was gone. She talked to the lady across the road who is the local busybody and watchdog and she said the kid never mowed the lawn so my friend was done with that kid but the mower still wouldn't start.

So I packed up some tools on the new Harley and rode up today to see what I could do.

I used carburetor cleaner on all of the linkages, dumped the fuel from the tank and the carburetor bowl and the plastic gas can for the mower and had my friend get the gas can re-filled with premium non ethanol gas.

The air filer was filthy! I cleaned it out with carb cleaner then sprayed it with 409 and rinsed it well and put it out in the sun to dry. (Yes I know those filters probably aren't meant to be washed but I didn't have an option). Anyway I put the filter in direct sunlight to dry.

I pulled the spark plug and rode to the local automotive parts store and bought a replacement and once back at my friend's I gaped the plug and installed it.

About that time she got back with the fresh fuel so I filled the mower's tank.

The air filter was still damp so we sat in the shade, she had a coke and I had a Bud or two and just shot the shite for awhile until the air filter was dry.

I installed the filter and gave the starter rope a pull and ----------------------------nothing. So I gave it a second pull and it started right up and ran great!

She was thrilled! She had other things on her list she needed help with but I told her I'd help another day as I needed to get home to Travis and she asked what she owed me. I told her nothing but she insisted saying that I'd ridden all that way, paid for the new spark plug etc and I told her I never charged friends or family.

I'd recorded some numbers from the mower and the air cleaner housing and once home I found new air filters for her mower and purchased them and had them sent to her. ---I'd shown her how to install the filter.

Next time I go up to help her, I'll take my Jeep Cherokee and Travis and probably spend a couple of days so she can get the hauling to the dump etc done which seems to me 'Man's Work'--

Well she hasn't had the easiest life. She was a nurse most of her career and I guess she gets a decent retirement along with Social Security. She's been married three times, has kids from all three husbands but I guess one son won't even speak to her and hasn't for many years, I've met one daughter who I think is a whore and treats her mom like crap but her mom will always help her out. That daughter lives close by and has three kids and they are good kids, I give their grandmother credit for that.

Next trip will be oil change time. I don't know if it's ever been changed as it's really black.

You’re too modest, and the same man in person as on here.
