My unit displays the music genres as folders just like on my iPhone. It lets me scroll by artist or album, but I generally set it to select pieces at random, except for when my wife is listening. Then we play country with an emphasis on Zac Brown.

You have colours? Guess I didn’t check that option when I ordered mine.

    Thanks for the info :

Yes my display has many different colors and they keep changing. At least I don't drive much at night anymore or it would drive me nuts.

OH! No I didn't buy the unit because of colors/I'd presumed that it would be just one color and probably white on black.

Should be able to choose a colour in your settings mode Roy.
If you get the manual out, it will be in there..
Probably in one of the lower level settings , like clock settings.

Mine, by default was in like a demo mode where it kept flashing through all the modes available, till I chose one..

I think calling these newfangled things phones is backwards. I think you should say I answered my phone on my music player.

Of course when you push the off button to turn them on that should be a good indication of things being backwards.

    Manual?
I think you have to go o line to read how to use anything now days. Its just wrong! But imagine the size a phone manual would have to be. For print the size that you could read, they would have to pack these phone in a bigger box.

You nailed it. I have more music, photos, podcasts and even a movie or two on my “phone,” that calling it a phone really is kind of dumb!

My phone rang three times today! I looked at it each time in disgust wondering who on earth would try to call me and why!

My voicemail literally says, “don’t bother leaving a message, I never check em.”

Also the plugins used different sizes of wire with one being about 18 gauge and the other about 20 gauge. While the destructions warned that not all wires might not be used the two that were left over were labeled for Illumination and Dimming.

However as in Johnny Cash's song when he says that 'The taillights were another sight as there were two on the left and one on the right but when we pulled out the switch all three came on" when I powered the new unit up it did have power to the displays.

What I would consider a Major Fail on behalf of those who wrote the destuctions is that they failed to point out the the Solid Black Wire is the ground and it needed to have a male connector attached so it would plug in to the old system/plus the connector wasn't provided. I happened to have the right connector.

So far I can't get the buttons to work to set the clock but I do have stations set.

Now! Can anyone tell me the logic behind having a Remote for this damn thing?? Are you going to give it to whoever is in the back so they can change stations??

The one feature that I'm looking forward to trying is that it has a USB port so I can download a crap pot of music to a thumb drive for a road trip.
    UPDATE!

I've found that there are certain functions that you HAVE TO USE THE REMOTE to perform/including selecting the color of the display :

I would think that the destructions would have a section in Bold Letters that say that there are certain fucktions that can only be done with the remote.
