I guess the one that best fits me is "I was country when country wasn't cool" by Barbara Mandell.

For a long time it was, and maybe still is "A Horse with No Name" by America... I don't know if it discribes me that much. But when I hear it... Boom back to the early years I go.

In all reality, the song which reminds me of my childhood has to be "oh yeah" from the Ferris Bueller's Day Off soundtrack. That movie represents a dream day for you highschool years, and that soundtrack just takes me back to highschool, and all of the fun times, without the 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California.

Well if you're going to day dream, might as well keep the 250 GT in there ----"oh yeah --chicachicachicah"

For most of my youth I would pick just about any song off the album "Quadraphenia" by the Who, But when I moved in with my dear old pappy at 15, I think "Longhaired Redneck" by David Allen Coe! Can't find it on youtube but to give you an idea of the flavor of the song a particular verse I remember well goes like this:

    "where bikers stare at cowboys
who are laughin' at the hippies
who are prayin' they'll get out of here alive."
"The loud mouth in the corner's gettin' to me
talkin bout my earings and my hair
I guess he ain't seen the sign
that says I been to prison
well someone better tell him quick
'fore I knock him off his chair."
"Well my longhair just can't cover up my redneck
I've won every fight I've ever fought"

And that is all I remember!!
I think I let on a little more than I intended to.

Some of the lyrics remind me of Charlie Daniels "Uneasy Rider" song.

Pretty good Mark --- I can relate to that song to a certain degree --- I've been a long haired country boy most of life --- never a hippie really, never a biker, never a cowboy really --- somewhat of a headbanger but mostly just confused.
