Everytime that woman opens her mouth, I feel smarter. She was once interviewed in Maxim and there she said, "we don't have fake boobs, we are classy chicks" Then I hear about her getting a boob job. But the funniest thing, "I want to make a name for myself, not just use the hilton name" (but still uses the Hilton name her the line of hand bags...Like no one has heard of Paris Hilton)

(playing the devil's advocate --maybe)
Look, I don't like her but people wanting her to go to jail because she is a spoiled, rich, arrogant, famous-for-no-good reason b***h isn't exactly justive either. I've caught myself smiling while thinking about her going to jail.
Does anybody have any experience with what poeple usually get for what she has done?
And yes the Amercian justice system isn't perfect and it will never be as is no other justice system in the world. And my fellow Americans ,stop acting like we should or ever will be perfect role models for the rest of the world -- we will never be and we can never live up to it --- we tend to have this superhero mentality when it comes to such things and superheroes are always susceptable to the slightest lack of perfection.
And for the rest of world, we are not role models --- stop expecting us to be while holding us to a standard that you hold no other to.
Am I wrong? Am I wrong? (please tell me how I'm wrong)

Thanked: 1I think, Justin, that what is bothering people is that if you or I or any other Joe Schmoe were to violate probation, fail to appear at a court ordered class, drive DUI, etc and stand before a judge, we would get the maximum penalty, which I think in this case was 90 days jail.
She got considerably less than that and its OK with me but to serve only 3 or 5 days and be released against a court order (the sheriff didn't go back to the judge before hand) because of "unknown medical conditions" gets a little frustrating. Any non celebrity would most likely have to tough it out and do the time.
I'm not glad she's in jail, I'm annoyed at what looks like celebrity justice. In this country, if you are a celebrity, you pretty well become above the law and it's simply not right.
I agree, we are not perfect and neither we nor the rest of the world should think so or act like it. However, any justice system should look at the facts and not take into consideration wealth or celebrity and time after time, it appears that both of these things are more of a determining factor in the dispensation of justice than facts/law.

Well, it looks like she's going back...."Mom!!!!"
The rich and powerful have always done better in these situations. It doesn't matter what country or what century you look at. That's just the way things are and always have been. That's not to say we shouldn't hold ourselves to a higher standard.

Hold ourselves to a higher standard? Sure, it wouldn't hurt.
Hold "celebrities" and "role models" to even higher standards? Damn straight.
Why do you think kids these days don't behave like proper adults when they get old? (Who's to define proper, I know.) Who do they have to look up to? You know how badly kids long for popularity and, though not the best people to look up to, "celebrities" are the epitome of popular. They get attention all the time from almost all the people. Why should kids behave if their "models" don't? Sure, occasionally the role models get in trouble, but as you see time and again they wiggle out of it.
To me, even though Paris is going back, it's a mockery of principles for an early release, AFTER A REDUCED SENTENCE, to even come into question.
Pfft. Take some responsibility and move along.Last edited by BrianB; 06-08-2007 at 08:34 PM.
