Day 10 Progress Report
Just a scrub and polish today. Off comes the little pointy bits. On goes the sealer. For those who may be wondering about slippery when wet? The sealing material has small silicone grains in it. Perfect traction without affecting the visual appearance.

Day 11 Progress Report
A Dawn to Dusk Extravaganza !!!
Time to start prepping the walls. A nice early start. But wait what's this. A delivery! Yippee the liner arrives. Let's rock and roll. Scrap and clean the bottom. Start hanging the liner (shallow end first) and work it into the corners. More scrapping, more hanging, more vacuuming, more hanging and before you know it the liner is sitting in place. Now for some big time suction. This baby pulls out a lot of air. Magically the liner sits down in place. Let the water works begin. Need to get the level up to the black tape line. Should take between 18 to 20 hours. Will see what the morning brings. Getting closer to a swim.Keep your concentration high and your angles low!

Looks marvelous, and with the weather we've been having, you might yet get a couple of weeks splash time out of it....
Great looking job.
And did not know that about the diving board, can't install a diving board due to liability, that truly is an example that the inmates have taken over the asylum.
Beautiful job....

Thanked: 4207Terrific progress! New liner looks great. Really top notch work!
I think these days they sell jumping rocks, not diving boards. Even up here in the country, no new installs have boards.
My sister went the fiberglass climbable rock route for her pool install. Neat, but not the same.
Having a board these days is like a vintage collectable. Need to keep it in good shape as they aren't replaceable."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."

We did consider it but never got around to it.
You betcha! Wife's already planning the menu.
Thanks. It's been an interesting process. Lot's of pre planning. Hated to leave the diving board out but they wouldn't even put the anchors in place when pouring the cement. It was a deal breaker for every pool contractor we talked to. Sad.
Thanks. These guys are knocking it out of the park. The fit was perfect. Hated to lose the board.Keep your concentration high and your angles low!

Is there any specific reason why you chose a liner for the pool as opposed to leaving the concrete exposed and rather sealing it?

Are you kidding. She who must be obeyed
wouldn't let me within a mile of drilling holes in her nice new patterned concrete patio. She'd hit the roof and I'd be in the dog house for a very long cold winter.
In my neck of the woods you have 3 options. Gunite (like a concrete), vinyl liner with steel walls behind or preformed fiberglass. Most expensive by a lot is gunite because it has to be built to withstand harsh winter weather and extreme ground frost. Since my pool started life as a vinyl liner it was going to be much less expensive to do this reno keeping it that way. Putting in a gunite pool would likely be about $40k - $60k difference. The existing steel walls were in great shape so we elected to stick with vinyl.Keep your concentration high and your angles low!
