When I was a freshmen, I lived on the forth floor of the Hollister wing of my dorms. I also developed a talent for acquiring software, music and movies...

Well, even though I'm a retired metal-worker, my user name is non-related. In '99, back in TN, I started a Men's Discipleship class titled, "The Blacksmiths' Place". Based upon Proverbs 27:17 "As iron sharpens Iron, So one man sharpens another". I simply acquired the 'handle', "The Blacksmith". The class lasted over 4 years.

From Yiddish, Mensch: literally, "man," but usually referring to a decent human being, a good, honest person who always takes the high road... from Chicago.

Unfortunately, nowadays, saying what you mean, meaning what you say and knowing the difference between right and wrong can get you in a lot of trouble, hence my status of "Troublemaker".

I took my forum username from one of the best philosophical shavers ever: William of Ockham, an English Philosopher and Theologian who lived in the fourteenth century. He is famous for his ontological razor... (it is also in my line of work...)

I really LOVE the Blues! I'm currently a first-class air guitar blues muscian. I'm learning to play, but just for me; no tour dates scheduled...

When I first started using the internet I decided a webmail account was a necessity and went to register on Yahoo. All the usernames I could think of were already taken so I decided to use the name of the place I was living closest to at the time: Trewornan in Cornwall.

I've since found that it's convenient to have an online identity seperate from my personal identity, so I always use Trewornan for anything online. It's not that I'm trying to keep my real identity hidden - if someone wanted to, it would be fairly trivial to connect the two and that doesn't worry me.

OK, I know this is an old thread, but its one of the best I have read in a while.

Trek, wife whats to know what one does that allows him to take off that much time and hit the road. I dont know where she is going with that, but if she buys a bike, im starting my collection of Double Ducks the next day

After several months of in and out of hospital stays, I got better. As part of my recooperation process, I bought a bicycle and just began tooling around to get my strength and wind back. Later, as a sports reporter for a small newspaper, I cycled to all of my assignments (as long as they were within ten to twenty miles). In fact I was spending so much time on my bicycle that people began asking me when my Drunk Driving charge was going to expire. They didn't believe that I was cycling volountarily. As the winter approached, I noticed that I had covered about 1500 miles cycling to and from events. That gave me the idea to cycle across the country.

So at 41, I packed up my Trek 830 with my sleeping bag, tent and some extra clothes and took to the road. I cycled from Connecticut to New Orleans to visit a friend. Spent a week with him and his family then decided to cycle out to California to visit my kids.

All in all, I spent about 5 months on the road before I finally got the urge to head on home. Two years later, I cycled from Connecticut to Key West. Hence the nick-name Trekker 2017.

Naturally, I shaved with my straight razors, which just added to the image of a half crazy person cycling across the country and shaving with a straight. No one bothered me and a lot of people left me alone or gave me a wide berth.

I have had several horses, and this rings so true. I laughed so hard when I read this because one of my quarter horses, Diamond, used to give me that same look all the time. Im sure he knew he was much smarter than I was.

I started laughing and told him he needed to watch where he put his feet and to pay attention to where we are going. Trust me horses are great to talk to and listen very well.
About a hundred yards or so further down the trail I heard a dirt bike behind us so I stood up in the stirrups and looked behind us to see if it was coming our way. Well just then I heard a whack and felt this sharp pain in my leg I fell back in the saddle and looked at my leg. This big piece of cholla cactus was sticking out of my leg. My wifes horse looked at me like "you need to watch where you put your feet and to pay attention to where we are going".
My neighbor started laughing and said "way to go Cactus Bob". So I use it online.
That will teach me to laugh at a horse.

for those that dont know what a cholla is. Look at the second picture. Cholla Cactus (DesertUSA)
