Scary times... If people's identities derive from the products they buy, and the products they buy are mass-produced....

(At least my plan for world domination will be easier once the world's population becomes completely homogenised - Mwah...mwah...mwah....hahahahhahaha!!)

But, you see, if you buy the phone FIRST, before everyone has it, then your identity is safe from the masses for a few weeks. Hence the camping out in the rain...

Don't worry: The iPhone will become stale just in time for the new iPod model's release...

    Ugh.

Its purpose in life is to allow you to make a phone call and perhaps send a text message.
Actually, my Tre smart phone, not only makes and receives calls and text as well as play mp3's take pictures and store numbers and addresses (as many phones do), but it also edits .pdf, .doc & .xls files, converts currencies, provides astronomical data, holds novels, reviews .pdf files, calculates musical chords, communicates via bluetooth, employs numerous time pieces and timing programs etc.

It's not just a phone, it's a handheld mini-computer. I suspect the iPhone is too. The next generation. One can hardly combat supervillains with anything less.

I dunno they have no plans to release the iphone in Canada yet from what I heard anyway ( please correct me if I am wrong). Therefore I really do not think about it since it is not available. Just another overpriced toy for most of the population and probably less than 3% will use it to the full potential.

X, you are becoming too dependent on fancy high tech stuff.
Return to Old Skool I say.
Otherwise you might as well start shaving with a vibrating 5 bladed gilette.

need? want?? ya'll need one razor, but how many you have? guilty here...

It is not the matter of need any more. I have owned around 15 cell phones since I started using them, in year 2000. My last phone is Nokia 6630, bought 3 years ago.

same with razors, first you get 5/8, than 6/8, than half hollow, than wedge, than vintage, than another one, and another, and another....

The manufacturers know this, so they keep releasing products every 12 months, with small upgrades, that you just have to have. Why do you think iPhone comes with 2Mpxl camera, when every other phone company is releasing 5 and more?

    Nenad

p.s. I am waiting for a price drop on that Nokia N95, with 5mpxl cam, the thing that I use the most in a cell phone

this was exactly my point in a conversation earlier with a co-worker. Everyone in America thinks that it takes two incomes to "survive" these days. BULLSHI !!! It takes two incomes to buy all the crap that people think they need to keep up with the Joneses. Do you need a three car garage, master suite, full finished basement, two huge SUV's, and the 136 inch plasma high definition TV with the complete cable packet, high spped internet, satilite radio, GPS enabled golf cart, ......................... . If people would just turn off the TV and quit looking at what the world (i.e. marketers) tell you that you need, and focus on the basics, the world would be a much better place.

in the 1940's the aveage house size was 1100 square feet, and the average family had more children. Now we have an average house size of just about 2500 square feet, with less children. (something is screwed up in this picture).

Okay, this is me getting off the soap box now.
