Thanked: 37This thread reminded of this story about a female athlete who was "transgendered" by the sports establishment of the German Democratic Republic (East Germany). Interesting video to watch. But it was not her decision.
Arise, awake, and learn by approaching the exalted ones,
for that path is sharp as a razor’s edge, impassable,
and hard to go by, say the wise. Katha Upanishad – 1.3.14

Thanked: 1083Unfortunately people have gone to extreme lengths for that win. And this fella is just doing the same. Its just the way is and always has been.
Synthetic testosterone has been used in sports since the 30s, but theres no denying its use in medicine has helped millions worldwide. During the 40s and 50s the USSR were cleaning up at the Olympics then a US team dr along with a pharmaceutical company invented Methandrostenolone, it combined with testosterone reversed the tables. And so it goes on.
Lance Armstrong was 7 x Tour de France winner. He got stripped of his titles but everyone was juicing or blood doping even the event organisers knew every one was doping, as a side note Lance Armstrongs charity foundation has made hundreds of millions and helped millions of men with cancer.
Hopefully something good will come from this....

Thanked: 4207This TG weightlifter held the record in NZ as a man in a lighter male category for some time, record was beaten by another man and Hubbard retired.
He then became NZs Weight lifting Executive officer, ie rule maker, for some time. He then made the switch to woman and returned to competition and became the current female record holder.
Without wanting to delve deeper into the persons life, my opinion of this being an example of narcissistic, or me-centric behavior is simply the above.
Guy was a champion, liked it, got beaten, didn't like it, retired and became intimate with the rules of the sport, had the means to switch his chemical or hormonal make up to compete against those he could beat, did so, and won once more.
All very much came across, to me, as someone thinking of themselves before the existing established mass standard. How to use the rules to their own personal advantage. That's very me-first thinking, again, solely in my opinion.
Further, my statement earlier about this being a trend is based on my own observations over the last 50 years on this planet.
There were three established 'categories' of sexual orientation until the last decade or so.
They were gay, being attracted to the same sex. Bisexual, attracted to both. And straight, which was attraction to the opposite sex. That's it. Three choices, or really two with a large gray area in between really.
Now, it's LGBTQIA, which is a much larger acronym to ensure no one orientation is excluded from the inclusive desire that everyone's personal identity is equally valid. Don't offend any one group and all that PC nonsense.
That's incredibly self centric, and overly complicated. Again, to me. It's like "no, I'm not just gay, I'm more specific than that I'm,,,,(blank),,", very me me me.
Instead of fitting into existing natural, simple co existing relations, I am going to force my specific opinion about what I am on everyone and damn you if you are uncomfortable or unaccepting.."you are the problem being uncomfortable, not me for making you feel that way."
Anyway, the above is all just my own personal thoughts, usely kept to myself on the topic.
I still maintain this is an interesting thread and appreciate reading everyone's opinions as long as decorum is maintained. I respect everyone's opinions, even if I do not agree with them. Opinions are not laws, but enough of them, in unison do sway laws..
Cheers men. Looks like a nice weekend up here. Time for some yard work.."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."

Glad I'm in the right place. So sick of some forums political correctness and having to tippy-toe around just in case you say something that hurts someones feelings.
I hate people who live in a democracy and don't want to be offended by what others say."My wife said she'd leave me if I bought another razor, I'm sure gonna miss her."

The rules of the forum are clearly labeled that this is a Gentleman's Forum and members are expected to act accordingly.
In Short, there is a Point of Diminishing Return on what can be said.
Personally I try very hard to keep my posts a bit on the 'tender' side so as to not offend anyone but at the same time offer my point of view.
If I find that I can't do accomplish that, I just observe from the sidelines.Last edited by cudarunner; 06-17-2017 at 09:21 PM. Reason: oops/didn't finish editing
