Her dad did check as I recall, and mine was such that it was either a bed, or a table with wrap around seating. I had it in seating mode for the inspection, and if he knew it was a combi, he let it slide..
He was a good man, and seemed to know Ruth and I were the match we are..

8 pioneer 3 way 6x9’s, two JBL subs and boards, and an Alpine tape deck.. Thing shook like a beer can shaken up. Think every one of my friends got their first public impairment charge with me in that thing…..

Nice stereo setup Mike. Better than what I had. I used to keep a casette of Santana's Abraxas aboard for occasions where there might be a young lady as passenger hoping she was a black magic woman.
A van would have been nice though. You can get a nasty cramp in the back seat of a '68 BMW 1600.

I assume you mean red bellies Oz? They are good company. I wish more people welcomed snakes as coinhabitants. At least here the prevailing attitude is "the only good snake is a dead snake," which is silly if you also dislike bugs and little furry critters. Mist of the people I know that would kill a rat snake would have a fit if the saw any kind of rodent around their house. My grandfather used to say, "a snake won't hurt you but he'll make you hurt yourself."

My understanding is that red bellies black snakes are not very hot (venomous) sort of like a cottonmouth or a copperhead here. You sure have plenty of other really hot snakes there though. We have lots of snakes here but not that many hot ones by comparison to down under, although we do have rattlesnakes, king among them the Eastern Diamondback which can be 8 feet long and have a body as big around as a motorcycle rear tire and weigh over 15 pounds.

Well they may have some relevance, but I tend to kill all of them and I’ll kill the rodents on my own, last time I let a copperhead live I got bit, don’t make that mistake anymore, working the oil patch gave me plenty of rattlesnake annihilation practice

Yes Paul. Red & also yellow bellied blacks are good to have around as they are cannibalistic & kill brown snakes which are more dangerous as they are more venomous & likely to have a go at you. Blacks usually leave you alone & head in the opposite direction unless you walk past their nest.
Their venom toxicity is not as lethal as browns & tigers etc but they do shoot a large volume so you still don't want to get bit.

@tc We have copperheads here too, toxic but they're not related to the USA ones. Very shy & mostly eat frogs & tadpoles. Used to see a lot when I first started flyfishing the Eucumbene river at Kiandra.
There were parts of the banks that were thick with them & you had to walk around them to get a spot to cast.
It was early summer & they were just waking. If you gave em a tickle with the tip of the rod they'd look up & then go back to sleep

If I recall correctly the yellow bellied is a different color phase of the red bellied, not a distinct species. Whatever it is though it is still good company if they eat or even deter browns or tigers. A friend of mine had a tiger snake which was pretty cool. He also had a green mamba at one point. I didn't even like being in the same room when he was working it. Those things are SO hot and so fast. I never kept any hot stuff, my thing was lizards and the occasional tortoise. Mainly I had Iguanids and agamas and knight anoles. That's a wicked thing, Anolis equestris: "horse anole" imagine a green anole with a head the size of your hand. They are the size of a basilisk and just as aggressive as a green or brown anole. They are introduced in south Florida or at least we're in the 90s.
