this we agree on I don't see a need for facebook considering what has gone on around here on the other side. I had an account but really didn't like it, closed it and deleted. my friends I can email or just pick up the phone Tc

I don't get what's not to like about Facebook? I'm not arguing that someone has to have it if they don't want it. I just don't see much downside.

I use it with software that allows me to ignore political posts, ads, etc. so for those with friends spread out across the country (and world) it's a convenient way to keep up with each other.

Most of the abuses or annoyances of Facebook can be easily overcome with knowledge of how it works and 3rd party software that allows you to customize it.

I like email but most younger people rarely use email. It's mainly texting or FB Messenger.

Jerry....When my daughters insisted that I get a Facebook account, "to keep in touch,"
I reluctantly picked up my club and stuck my nose out of the cave. For awhile....

I didn't like the idea of being so exposed online, so I deleted myself from that slice of
contemporary reality. Email is good enough for me.

I may yet use my club on my so-called "smart" phone. Even that borders on being too
connected, in my opinion. Everybody I care about knows where I live, and I prefer a
face-to-face above all else. Come on over, y'all, and we'll talk. A pox on your tweets
and your 128-character blurbs and your silly selfies!

The way I see it every service, game, program out there is a money making proposition for someone. Everything you do on-line is recorded and compiled and sliced and diced and packaged for sale to someone. Even the "protection" programs. If you are really IT smart and have a few ideas you can get very rich in this business.

One day folks will be astounded as to just how much of their lives is sitting in data bases out there and much of it will some day come back to bite them.

In a way it's like someone who forgoes credit cards and debit cards and even checks and does everything by cash.

I did the FB and measanger thing but thats it. I happen to have a lot more friends than ive had in a long time. Well, i will say friends of past have now found me. Not a bad thing. Got to go and change some settings. Even a guy in Porta Rico i met. It was good to know he was still alive aftervthe big storm they had.

This might be fun. I can see it getting out of hand. I dont want everyone knowing what i say and do. Although its not like i do much or anything wrong. I can understand folks not wanting to do FB. I was that way. I might still be that way, but time will tell.

So if you run across me on FB, be sure to say hi. Oh, and let me know who the hell you are. Sence very few of us use our real names here.

Everyone won't know what you are doing if you don't post it on Facebook. You can also make your privacy settings so that only FB friends can see your page.

I originally joined Facebook because a new real-life friend contacted me via email with a request to join my Facebook page and I wasn't on FB so I joined. Since then many friends from back home, high school, college, other places I've lived have contacted me.

I have had only positive experiences due to Facebook. I rarely post myself but occasionally I'll make a post or post a picture.

There are ways to block political posts from friends who do nothing but post political posts. There are ways to block ads.
