Everyone won't know what you are doing if you don't post it on Facebook. You can also make your privacy settings so that only FB friends can see your page.

I originally joined Facebook because a new real-life friend contacted me via email with a request to join my Facebook page and I wasn't on FB so I joined. Since then many friends from back home, high school, college, other places I've lived have contacted me.

I have had only positive experiences due to Facebook. I rarely post myself but occasionally I'll make a post or post a picture.

There are ways to block political posts from friends who do nothing but post political posts. There are ways to block ads.
