AFAIK in many states there isn't a paper trail for secondhand guns in many cases and if they were bought before a certain year (60s?) there often is no registration as such. I think it has to have been bought from a shop recently to have one but of course there are different laws in different states to some extent and they aren't big on anyone having records they will show to the government full stop.

I guess they're scared of it being a slippery slope so to speak and ending up like here where you have to apply for you license stating which calibre weapon you intend to own, its use and show you have somewhere suitable to fire it.

    Bruno-
Idaho's gun laws are pretty reasonable...

    Firearm Laws in Idaho

in summary, you need a concealed weapons permit - other than that... well, try not to kill anyone.

In Oklahoma, you just have to go through the background check and registration. If you want to carry a pistol around with you, then you have to have a carry and conceal license.

Unless it's a class 3 weapon (full auto, grenade launcher, machine gun), you can sell anything to anyone without a paper trail, as well as gift it.

Not to be annoying, but what's wrong with that?
My best friend has firearms, and I have had this debate with him before.
If people are permitted to have firearms, then they should at least have demonstrated knowledge of the relevant laws, safety and proper handling.
I don't mind people owning guns, as long as they follow the laws.

After last year's tragedy in Antwerp (some racist bought a gun and bullets, and walked out the store to shoot colored people) all guns are now required to be licensed, whether you got them from your grandfather or from ebay. Previously it was only handguns, shotguns and certain types of rifles. now it is everything.

Couple of weeks ago, the first batch of applicants was tested, and a number of them was disqualified. A lot of them failed even the most basic braindead things like not pointing at bystanders with a loaded rifle.
People like that should not own a gun. ever.

Just a couple shotguns and small caliber rifles. Would like to own a 1911 .45 acp --just a beautiful little gun. I have an affinity for crack barrel and bolt action rifles and shot guns more than semi-autos

Here are a couple of mine, not much I can't hunt with these two

would really have to sstop and think to give an exact number, somwhere between 1.5 and 2 dozen. Suffice to say, I can defend myself from touching distance out to 1000 yards and cant hunt anything from small game to big bears, to upland game to waterfowl
