Thanked: 3228Saw that ad and can't see what all the angst is about. It got people talking about Gillette which they needed after loosing a big chunk of the market and points out some societal things that need to be addressed now more than ever before. Nothing to get your undies in a knot over.
Bet it turns out like the 2018 Nike boycott. I believe after all the gnashing of teeth on social media Nike's shares went up anyway. Tempest in a tea pot.

Thanked: 4207Being one of the currently less active members I do try to keep up with the threads as I can, and contribute in spits and spurts.
Like phrank, and others have said, its cyclic for sure.
Those that have stayed on and continue to contribute are the men that are keeping the forum going during the lull.
My thanks to all of ya.

Thanked: 49Most guys come into a forum here there or anywhere else looking for something. They ask questions, get good advice, grab as much as they can and then they bolt. They arent interested in doing what it took to get them straightened out for someone else. End of story. Thats my take on it anyway. As far as the "shave politics go?" There is usually a hierarchy and that sometimes is not the best for an open forum. Sure there needs to be rules etc but to let a handful of guys run the roost sometimes creates issues. Ideally one place with no heads or tails would be great. But that isnt likely.

Like Mike, I just drop by to post my whisky reviews, and check in on some old friends. Sadly, I am getting rid of my straights due to lack of use. An ongoing shoulder issue makes using straights more of a chore now than the pleasure it once was. So I am back with Safety Razors for my moments of zen-like reflection. I have always preferred this place to the "Rodent and Razor" site with it's overly restrictive policies, and almost maniacal adherence to same. Fortunately for me, a banning means I no longer need worry about them.

It's fun to talk of this stuff. It's more than shaving.
We all go through things. It's nice to know you are normal sometimes...

Only lurk there for the humorous posts derived by disassembling every conceiveable aspect of wet shaving. A thread for the DE blade you used that day’s shave, the brush, the soap, the aftershave, the barber towel, scutttle, etc.
Hey, guys, it’s called the SOTD?
And, as for true straight razor focused discussion, that site has never been for me. Lots of willful ignorance that I do not care to suffer.--Mark
