Especially if you have Cadillac insurance I would have gone straight to the ER after the regular doc refused you.

Our Dr didn't refuse us we just could not get hold of her to get an order for the test
You can't go straight to the ER, this is what I am trying to make sure you all understand, so you don't get caught it the same situation
If you have Symptoms they are going to require a CV-19 test BEFORE they see you..
ie: if you have a Cold Flu Bronchitis Pneumonia etc this is what happens, I didn't know this until Thurs, I thought exactly the same as all of you
I learned and had to negotiate the system, the only think your Dr can do is order the test for you rather than having to spend the time I had to with the Health District it might save an hour or two nothing more
Some places do not require an order from a Dr for a test, but I am not sure how that works
After that it depends on your particular testing apparatus usually determined by county
Oddly in Bonner's Ferry about 2500 ppl they have the faster test than Sandpoint 7800 ppl that was something else that surprised me
Anyway something to actually check into ahead of timeLast edited by gssixgun; 09-14-2020 at 09:59 PM.

Glen, my best to you and Shan.
All I have to do is read another story about health care systems incompetence and my blood begins to boil...

My friend, you and Shan are in my thoughts and prayers.
Thank you for bringing the hassles to our attention. Hopefully this will be of some help to some of us.Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdin’s cave of 'stuff'.

Well, national mandate or not that's not the practice around here. I know this because my son practically lives at the MD and he's had probably 5 or 6 MD visits the last few months and he's never had to take a Covid test. As a matter of fact I have a visit at the neurologist Wednesday this week and don't need any covid testing and my wife is currently get treatment through workers comp and she doesn't need any covid testing either so....

In your original post you said your doctor would not see you without a test and it was life threatening to not see a doctor quickly.
At least here the ED cannot refuse to see you. They might hold you in a separate area if you a PIA. {Person Of Interest.} Sounds like police talk.....
I don't endorse using the ED if not needed but you make it sound if she didn't get the meds she could die. That sounds needed.
Maybe sounds weird way to negotiate the system but use the ED when needed.

If you have symptoms,,,, not sure what is confusing there,
I thought the same, I was wrong, they will not treat you until you are tested..
No I never said that,,, I have said exactly what I learned with this and each step it took
If you have Symptoms,,, they are going to start the Covid testing protocol regardless of your intake, the ER would have slowed us down and put us unto a separate slower more costly track. I checked there and "Emergi-Care" and learned what the steps were
I am trying to save you frustration time and money from what I learned this past few days ..
If you have symptoms, be prepared to deal with this, I know it sounds wrong and outrageous I thought the same but this is what is going on
I am just glad she was negative I really don't want to see the mess a positive test brings
PS: I would really suggest finding out if/where they have the 30 min tests at Now, not when you really need itLast edited by gssixgun; 09-14-2020 at 11:35 PM.
