"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices--mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law--justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former."

This is the backside of democracy taken too far. People feel they have the right to do whatever they want and in their selfishness rather pay a lawyer to get what they want than accept someone else's democratic rights. That's why I am in favour of enlightened despotism.

Thanked: 3228There is what is legal and there is what is ethical. Justice is best served when both are present.

I've always been a big fan of voting with my feet.
I wasn't entirely sure of the difference between a democracy and a democratic republic so I asked my friend Google.

Unfortunately what is legal and what is just are very often NOT the same thing. Regardless of what place or system there will always be injustice as long as mankind fails to honor his fellow man as he honors himself.

A true Democracy is simple Mob Rule, there are none in the world today, the Swiss are the closest to it.."No amount of money spent on a Stone can ever replace the value of the time it takes learning to use it properly"

It is really impossible to all "stand on one rock" as the greeks did with a society so large. That is why the delegation. Direct democracy in the US would be a 3 billion person riot.
Direct democracy only works in small groups and sometimes not very well in those and only by mutual consent. That is why the hippie communes usually only lasted one generation.Last edited by PaulFLUS; 10-20-2020 at 12:37 AM.
