I lived on a ranch near Yosemite for many years that had issues with Coyotes... Not much worked on the frigging buggers. That said...

Being naucturnal you will have a hard time seeing them with out good optics, high end scopes or night vision. I hunted the buggers with a T/C contender in .223 with good scope (been so long that I forgot what one it was). I'd wait till early morning to set up a blind and pop the ones that stayed to close to the place.

These guys are crafty and are a worthy hunt, generally just being around will keep them at bay (till you turn your back that is).
