Thanked: 4207Proud to be born, and raised in Ontario as well gents, and am ambivalent towards the licensing “savings” as I too think it will just be redirected. But happy we are going one more step towards automated renewals and the like assuming you keep a clean abstract.
And regarding the llack of 4 lanes north of say Barrie, well I quote current pricing;
“Construct a new 4-lane highway — $4 million to $6 million per mile in rural and suburban areas.”
And except at peak there is just not the traffic to justify it across the more sparsely populated parts of the country, let alone maintains the said extra lanes all year.. it’s clear to me why they aren’t 4 lane hiways yet..
I get your frustrations though living there and dealing with the traffic, such as it is."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."

Thanked: 3228You can't get much more sparsely populated areas than the prairies and the TC Highway has been divided 4 lane from Manitoba to BC for many years now. I think by now the TC Highway is divided 4 lane through the Rockies by now. You can be on 4 lane divide highway from southern Ontario, through Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia up to Cape Breton. The TC Highway from Port au Basque NL (ferry port) to St John's NL has be divided 4 lane for many years now. It's the main highway across Canada. Just not important enough for Ontario, a have province, to worry about.
