Yeas, pretty sure you are right that it is a moot point now. Don't worry though, I am pretty sure Putin will give us other opportunities to test the West's will to go to war with him. The only other slim hope would be that Russia itself will replace Putin in the future.

Why are we all so upset about Ukraine, is it because we love Ukrainians or that we hate Russia. Could it be because Ukraine is Europe. I do think it's terrible what Ukraine is going through and would love to see NATO kick Putin's ass home to Russia but I can't help wondering how we as a world will react if China does to Taiwan what Putin is doing to Ukraine.
I don't think the word will react nearly as strongly because
a) it's far away and a lot of us don't understand the situation in the Far East
b) Getting into it with China is more scary than with Russia
