The North America car market has been slow to move towards electric cars in general. Most Merican car makers have cut back on production of electric cars and eliminated some as a consequence. Take a closer look at where some of the parts to make Merican eclectic cars come from, and you'd likely see China as a supplier.

There are more than enough reasons to dislike Musk other than his electric cars.

Well, we have been dealing with Quebec wanting to separate for a long and they haven't despite having elected to our Parliament members of a separatist party. I would not be overly concerned about Canada as the US has more than enough going on to wonder about its future as a country.

Yeah, don't forget the US actually knows what secession is like. It's not just rhetoric over here.
Say what you want about the reasons, but the real reason is that we actually have the stones to do it. Some things really are worth fighting for.
