Thanked: 1I didn't find my box to mark.
How about real with man probably playing a significant role and probably a serious threat. It's also a political issue that neither the left nor the right wants to look at objectively. The left is on offense, trying to use it to gain political control; the right is on defense, trying to stop them by denying everything.
As a footnote, I would love to have a list of legitimate scientists who don't think global warming is a problem. (They're out there and shouldn't be ignored!) Then I would like to compare it with a list of scientists who supports either young earth creationism or intelligent design. If I were to find a significant number of scientists on the first list also on the second list it would help me decide how much credibility to give them.

I have to agree wholeheartedly with LarryK. If the subject were explored completely objectively, by people with NO agenda, I would be happy to listen to the evidence and conclusions.
Right now, too many people are trying to make big reputations and big fortunes by scaring the bejabbers out of the rest of us. So for that reason, I dismiss every last "Doomsayer" as an axe grinder, who is doing a poor imitation of Chickren Little.
I once read, "For every PhD there is an equal and opposite PhD."
As somebody has already said, "Follow the money."

I want to clarify my thoughts/position on Global Warming.
I am in NO way saying that nothing is happening! SOMETHING definitely is. But I am not convinced that anyone can say exactly what that something is. It has not been proven that Global Warming is human induced. I am not convinced that THIS is the "correct" temperature for the Earth. No one has shown me that we CAN do anything to reverse the trend, or that it really ought to be reversed.
There are a lot more questions than answers and the debate (at least thus far,) has generated a lot more heat, than light!

In the 50's it was Communism. In the 60's remember the black smoke and pollution in all the big cities - now mostly gone in America. In the 70's it was global cooling that was going to kill us. In the 90's McDonalds was the bane, Then Walmart. Now the air is clean, and its global warming. Would somebody please make up their minds so I know what to be afraid of. I need to hate and be afraid of something!!!

Shouldn't you split the options then? Real, caused by man, and Real, caused by nature? I mean, even if it's not caused by us, it still impacts us (if it's real).
Personally I'm at the point where I consider it to be a good thing to act as if it is real. The cost for ignoring it if it is real outweighs the cost if we do act as if it was real but it isn't.
