I have BWAD and WMAD.
Banded Waterfowl Acquisition Disorder and Waterfowl Meat Acquisition Disorder.
I've spent a ton of money getting the gear together to be able to successfully hunt waterfowl, both ducks and geese. I have another $500+ scheduled for decoys and calls this summer in prep for next season. We'll see how it goes....

Rock climbing gear, hand tools, books, and fine wines. Oh yea, I'm also addicted to spending all of my money .

BAD for sure (Book Acquisition Disorder)--especially poetry, ghost story collections, stuff on language, and generally odd books. And music scores and books--is that BAD or MAD?
PAD and TAD--though the price of good pipes and the taxes on pipe tobacco keep that in control.
What about typewriters? TAD2? TWAD? (Well, maybe not, we're keeping it family-friendly and all.) Actually the typewriters are a static collection, and I didn't go out looking for most of them, they found their way to me ... old wind-up watches, the same.
Taking a visual memory tour of my house, I've gotta say, mostly just crap! Gatorfan, you're not alone, me have so much crap too!

Thanked: 1The scary thing would be to apply these expenses to a cost per pound for the meat you end up with.
I get asked a lot how much money I save making my own beer, and how much I save by reloading my own handgun ammo, and casting bullets.
Not much saved on beer, but with the price of ammo skyrocketing, I'm glad I invested in reloading.

I have little problems with high-end American whiskies and cigars. At my current consumption rates, I could drink and smoke for many years without buying any of either.

Well, I've been party to the killing of well over 100 geese and about 50 ducks just this season. Figure 2-3 pounds of meat per goose if you only take the breast meat. Triple that if you take the roast. Figure about 2 pounds max for duck breast, double for a whole roast.
But, I don't look at it on a per-pound basis. I look at it as a comparatively expensive hobby/sport that I can actually feed myself with as a benefit. It's all in perspective. :-D

right there with ya. some of my homebrew actually winds up costing slightly more than store bought, but then again, it's usually overpriced imported craft beers than I'm competing against.
and you're right on with ammo. brass, powder and primers have all doubled in price these last coupla years, store bought ammo has quintupled for some calibers.
