You have to ask the guy- was the $18 worth the $50,000 bail and free nights in jail? Freakin' idiot... Honestly, I'd love to sit in on that hearing. I hope the judge rips him several new ones.

Thats pretty damn low. 50k bond for a 17.50 theft, the guy deserves it. What could be more American than a kid selling lemonade, what could be less American than this stupid putz and his petty theft and desecration of an American ideal.

No kidding. At least the girl had the wherewithall to call the cops. Of course, she probably had a cell phone on her anyway. Back in my lemonade stand days I probably would've cried and run home.

Yeah, thats what I liked about the story! The young lady had the balls to chase him down and then call the cops! She is growing up to be a fine Lady!

She's also a very lucky young girl. She could have gotten seriously hurt for $17.50.

My thoughts exactly. I'd be angry with my daughter if she did such a thing, because that could have ended very, very badly. She should tell a trusted person asap and call the cops (or rather, have that person call the cops). Even if he would have escaped with the money, it is not worth the risk of having to go to the morgue to identify your kid.

+1. if it was my 17.50 i sure as hell would not have chased someone down. if you're going to provoke a confrontation, save it for something that matters. small amounts of cash are not one of those things.

Jockey, I wont fight you on that one. Screwing people seems to be what American business is all about. But when it comes to kids and lemonade stands thats another story. I am one of those suckers who will see the lemonade/koolaid stand and I have to stop. God bless their little hearts for trying. Just hope an adult made the concoction.

As a father I can understand how you guys feel, but I look at it in a slightly different way! This girl showed an incredible amount of chutspa, She showed courage, she showed strength of character! Hell, no ones going to push her around! She just needs a little tempering, thats all! Imagine the lack of crime in the world if we all did not let ourselves be trampled on!
