Congrats on the job. One suggestion that I'm surprised didn't get mentioned as a career choice is barber or even beauty college. I think they are fairly lenient, and you could always open your own shop.

Good idea tony! He might have to wait awhile to save up the dough for school, but the independence it would provide would be great!

Good idea Tony!
You could open up an alternative barber's. Piercings & ink welcome if not necessary. Just leave your attitude at the door & come in & have a great shave.
I know exactly what you mean, Metalhead. My work history is very chequered. It does make finding a decent interesting job more difficult. I would have suggested trying some voluntary work as a way in. It seems to impress employers no end if you are prepared to do something without obvious reward. Cannot think why.

Thanked: 22A slightly expensive but perhaps good option might be to have the tats lasered off, but then redone in the black light ink. Theres a member MikeRatliff who has a black light ink tattoo. That way you kinda have the best of both worlds, you still have your tattoo(s) and it won't put you in the ranks of difficult to employ.
Would you also not consider removing the peicings during work hours?
Congrats on your new job though, stick at it and you'll be fine. Theres a point in everyones life where they have to do a job they can't stand, bu teventually it gets you into a better job.

i do remove my steel for work i have fleshtone rubber pieces for work you can barely tell that the holes in my ear is 1/2 inch big. and i have heard way to much bad stuff about blacklight and glow-in the dark ink to have either put in my skin. i have done alot of research cause i wanted to do the whole tribal face bit. pretty much cover most of my face in ink and i wanted done in blacklight

Congrats on the job!
Another idea for down the road, is to look into a Union training school. We looked into it for my son, he seems to have a hard time keeping a job. Not because of ink but his attitude and mouth. Here in Az we have one that runs you through heavy equipment training, pays you for the training and helps you get a job. If need be look for a local Union Office.
Good Luck!
