i have never been huge star trek fan, i can appreciate the old one for sure, don't mind the new one but it isn't quite as good (just my opinion). what really surprised are the newer movies are pretty good. i like the fact that you don't have to be a trekky to know what is going on, the acting is good, special effects aren't bad. again i was pleasantly surprised.

Star trek, well now, I doubt there are many people on this forum that like or watch it more then I do... though to slap all the "older" star trek fans, I honnestly dislike the origonal searies (edit)(I'm not trying to offend any one its just my opinion), Shatner (I am canadian so I can say this) is a horrable actor, the plot lines where so bland and largely meaningless... I saw all of the episodes once, and find it impossible to watch most of them agian (unlike the newer series, which i have likely seen every episode more then 3 times). Though the movies where a minor improvement, I still found them to be sevearly laking. What disapoints me is that befor I even knew star trek existed the show was over, untill star trek enterprize, which i followed untill the morons decided to end it.... arg.... so I'm hoping something good will come out of the new movie, and hopefully there will be a good enough responce for them to warrent bringing back star trek and creating another show.

Well, since I don't discriminate about OS Trek, I clearly watch and love it more than you do, Kevin and am insulted that you should poo-poo a great and ground breaking show.

PS 'original', 'series', 'Canadian', 'horrible', 'severely', 'lacking', 'disappoints', 'before', 'until', 'Enterprise', 'response' and 'warrant' ... honestly, and that's not even dealing with syntax. Really, you're making us Canucks look bad.

    Now now X.
Poo-pooing the syntactical mistakes of a fellow SRP member is pretty insulting as well, and a low thing to do.

Kevin8888, I must say I would be one of those that would be a more hard core trekie. I have All of the star trek currently available (as far as I'm aware) on DVD. This includes the cartoons. I've not only watched TNG when it was syndicated, but have continued to watch them. My wife and I have watched TNG on DVD at least 3 times, and are currently watching DS9 for the second time straight through.

I liked the original movies. The evens were the best due to their producer. The TNG movies were good, and I'm looking forward to the new one.

Oh, and every year we are home for Christmas, we put up two Christmas trees. One is a star trek tree. This is complete with the best tree topper around. It's a small plasma disk with green plasma. Much like the plasma disk atop the borg alcoves.

FWIW, I'd still like to see the Klingon razor.

The original series IMO had a surreal quality to it. I must admit that I have not watched the TNG and beyond enough to do a qualified comparison though.

I' ve seen both TOS and TNG more than once (and also the other series of the franchise). Besides the fact that Gene Roddenberry was a visonary genius and the fact it never seizes to amaze me that he got away with critizing every aspect of US society looked through quite obvious socialist glasses, there's not much to compare between both shows. A grand canion of technological and screenwriting revolutions gapes between them.

I completely agree, Gene did some amazing things with the orrigonal star trek. I guess I have to say that I was born into a generation of advanced movie and tv effects/plots, so when I watch tv or movies I guess I need more bang for my buck as they say, im not discreadating what he did with it, just from a point of veiw thats biased due to my date of birth, the origonal star trek is less exciting/bland compaired to voyager and enterprise where every episode was full of explosions and dense dialoge/plot. So the origonal series just doesnt cut it for me. though I have nothing against those who enjoy it haha.

PS xman Im dislexic give so me a break eh, I cant spell worth sh*t and I know it
