For those who find the original series lame and meaningless with bland plots, you have to view it in the context of the times. As a teenager in the sixties, before video games, internet and cell phones, I couldn't get enough of it. As for it being meaningless, it was a rare science fiction program that depicted a positive future. Some of the episodes dealt with serious topics. The special effects by today's standards were primitive (the same could be said for Star Wars) but they were't bad for the times. And let's not forget, it was an episode of Star Trek that dared to show TV's first interracial kiss. In an age in which he now have a black president, it's difficult to imagine how controversial that was. The show was groundbreaking in more ways than one.

I like the New and the Old. Both have their great points. I think the chicks in the Next Gen., are hotter looking.

I, too, have seen all the episodes of TOS. Most of TNG and all the movies. I watched TOS with my dad, he is still a huge Star Trek fan. I have watched a lot of the spin offs, DS9 and Enterprise mainly. I haven't watched much lately, but I have seen most of them. The new movie does look good. There was a preview I seen somewhere, can't remember where though. The second movie was the first movie I ever watched in a theater that actually scared me (I was about 8 at the time and it was when Khan put the worms in the helmets and they went into Chekov's ear. Totally freaked me out and I hate anything close to my ears now).
