I have the opposite problem Nath, I love Trek (never really seen the Stargate series) but my partners never have. I usually found myself holed up in the bedroom watching it alone. I have all the movies, used to have the entire TNG but lost it in a split up and have seen if not all then most of DS9 and Voyager. I saw the first series of Enterprise but non after that.
I love the Klingons and the Borg and they are IMHO the best.

Thanked: 7I've always been into it and have never had a partner who likes it!! What's the problem with a little escapism i say!!?!!? i'm also an avid reader of Iain M. Banks novels. you need to be a real sci fi nerd to enjoy his stuff but if you like trek you'll love his books!! start at the beginning because other than a few they are all part of a great interlinked universe centred around a highly advanced race called the cuture - the wikipedia page about the race alone is as long as a roll of toilet paper!
well Iain himself put it better here than i can:
A Few Notes on the Culture, by Iain M Banks
(a funny read if you're a sci fi nerd like me).
Read his books - you'll love em.Last edited by NathJD; 11-24-2008 at 03:14 PM.

Thanked: 1I absolutely love Star Trek and grew up watching it. I am a die hard Trekkie. That's Star Trek the original series. IMHO it rocks and always will. I grew to like ST:TNG just about as much, always loved Picard. I really liked ST: DS9 but didn't get to watch it til the end of the series, I kinda lost interest in it. I never cared for Voyager as much don't really know why I think it was a lot of the characters but I really liked Enterprise. For me though there's nothing as good as the original, IMHO. We used to sit around at Star Trek club meetings (told ya I'm a die hard Trekkie), and quote the lines while watching TOS. I was fortunate that I got to meet most of the original cast, we've met all of the cast of ST:TNG except for Picard, and several characters from ST: DS9.
Kevin8888 I would imagine you're young so you're forgiven for poo pooing ST:TOS. At least you like Star Trek so that's cool.
I'm lucky that my guy watches Star Trek with me.Last edited by Doc; 11-25-2008 at 08:11 AM.

Not a Trekkie or a Trekker, though I did once try to learn klingon. I like all things sci fi and have found both the original show and movies and the new ones to be mostly entertaining. The new movie looks likes it’s going be quite good- Darn That writers’ strike, now we have to wait until spring… oh well, they say it’s going to give them more time to work on the special effects…

I really, really want to see this when it comes out!!! I'm hoping we get it over here at the same time it will be released in the States because of Squid being due. Knowing my luck I will go to see it and my waters will break, in which case they will have to drag me kicking and screaming from the theatre, hehehe
Spike mentioned that Zachary Quinto (Sylar in Heroes) would be playing Spock and I could see it, now I've actually seen the trailer it looks like he has done a fantastic job of the part.
