Thanked: 131I like and agree with the sentiment of national unity. However, 1)Not everyone is American. I accept that your point is not that everyone should be American but that everyone should back their nation. But point 2) If people gave Obama such a hard time trying to prove he is American, what hope does anyone else have? Why should you have to PROVE how much of a citizen of your country you are?!

Yea the Governor of Michigan is responsible for the the unemployment, I guess the fact that the auto industry is tanking and taking all the related industries with it has nothing to do with it. I guess she should have made sure everyone bought more cars while their houses were being foreclosed.

Actually this all started with a "one state recession" a couple of years ago. We have been well down the slope from everyone else for a couple of years now.
A couple of her Highlights:
When the Executives from VW flew to Michigan to look at things over here, she couldn't be bothered to re-schedule her vacation to meet with them. So VW moved their US headquarters out of State.
Toyota wanted to open a new testing Facility and they had to chose between here and Tennessee. Tennessee offered them tax incentives and flew them at state expense from building site to building site so they could see what the state had to offer. She didn't offer anything.
She said in her Last inaugural address that one of her goals was to help change Michigan from a manufacturing economy to a more tech and services based one by creating incentives and making Michigan a "bio-medical corridor to the future" The next thing that happened was Pfizer one of the her key players in Michigan's future moved all operations out of state.
No the problems of the big three can't all be laid at her feet but there are plenty of outright failures in her actions to make me doubt her ability to give any kind of sound economic advice.

Sounds like she's doing a good job of relieving Michigan of it's automotive manufacturing, can't say she didn't keep her promise
Having worked in the automotive industry for 15 years (I've been out for 5 now boy am I glad) with clients in both Germany and Austria, they can really take that sort of slight very personally.Last edited by Hutch; 11-07-2008 at 10:50 PM.

Unfortunately, I have to want Obama to fail. Most of the things he has promised and the things he says he will do are in my opinion the worst possible courses to take. Therefore the way I see it his complete and utter failure at his every action would mean that this country is taking the best and most proper course to a better future.
As far as working together and all going the same direction... That's what Lemmings do too.
