Now the real question is which root beer? A&W, Hires, Barks, Mug, Cott, Dad's, Jones, Pop Shop, or other?

    Personally, I'm a Dad's rootbeer fan.

Virgil's handcrafted root beer is the best. it's made with all the attention to detail as a fine craft beer. i recommend you all try it... you'll never be able to choke a&w down ever again.

This is scary we even share tastes in root beer Virgils is incredible!!

Of course just like appreciating a good microbrew doesn't stop me from enjoying a bud at the ballpark, I still go for the classic A&W most of the time.

And yes Whole foods should have it!!

There’s nothing like sitting back and relaxing, starring at the car you just spent a couple hours shining, drinking a cold A&W root beer and listening to oldies.

Cars, oldies music, and root beer go great together.

Edmunds Scientifics makes a kit to make your own brewed root beer. I've never tried it so I can't vouch for it but it looks good.

I agree that Root Beer is amazing and I won't take the time to argue a favorite here, but am I alone here in saying... I like Birch Beer better...?

    Default Ahhh yes..

Birch beer is much milder and is ideal with hard cheeses. I prefer IBC as my everyday carry RB. A&W is great out of a frosty mug with a hotdog from the same establishment. I will go ahead and say that Virgil's is amazing and it is available in a 5 liter party keg. How cool is that?!?

Still and all, the absolute best Root Beer I have ever had was made by my Dad's Dad. Adee Floyd Thompson could make a root beer.

Truth be told I have never met one I didn't like.

my go to rootbeer here in texas is Frosties in the glass bottle (just always tastes better in glass), how ever the prize for best all around is a toss up between The Willoughby Brewing Company (first brewpun in ohio since prohibition by the way )in Willoughby OH or from The Capital Brewery in Madison WI. i like A&W when in the mood and mostly only on draft unless i want it with ice cream. as soon as i get settled in kentucky (sometime next month hopefully) i plan to start making my own. although has a mainstream cola company EVER had better than any local brew?? i think not, it seems even the worst local brew is better than the best main stream brand IMHO

And yes birch beer is great, i have an old fashioned ice cream parlor back home that has it on draft it is perfect for birch floats.

I remember how incredibly good the A&W in a frosted mug was when I was in my 5’s (I’m 51 now). Current A&W sure does not taste like it, even in their “restaurants”, nothing I’ve found does. I’m going to hunt down Virgil’s with a passion now.
