Doesn't it just warm the heart?

Unfortunately, this type of behavior no longer surprises me anymore....I say we should expect more of the same in the next few months...or years.

It would warm my heart even more if they can bring these charges home to roost on he who vacated that seat, especially before his swearing in as the next idiot in charge.
Anyone who knows their history already knows not to trust a Chicago politician, hopefully this will bring it home for a new generation.Last edited by Wildtim; 12-09-2008 at 04:37 PM.

hopefully this isn't the last one that gets caught. maybe it has taken the state of the economy for the government to realize that just looking the other way is costing money and killing any progress that is made towards a better future. that could be a stretch too, they say only the stupid criminals get caught right.
BTW i realize that since i'm Canadian it doesn't effect me directly but we are way too clse for me not to hear and care about US politics.

I'll wait for the jury to convict him. YMMV.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Should we wonder how many other people we know got involved in the "pay to play" game during the past few years? That would explain many things.

Hi All,
Yeah, Illinois politics usually makes for interesting reading. Let me just say that the current governor isn't convicted of anything as of this writing, so that's something to keep in mind. However, from the little I've learned of the evidence against him......well, it don't look too good. Hehe, the upside is that this little episode will make some Republicans happy.
I won't get into Chicago politics, since my fingers would be raw and bleeding from typing, but I'll touch on Illinois in general. Turns out the LAST governor (George Ryan) has been in the slammer for one year now. He has a ways to go yet before he's free.
He was found to have put together a situation where people could buy drivers licenses. This was very handy, since some people desiring those weren't capable of passing the normal tests needed........sometimes because they couldn't understand English very well. The cash was tracked back to the governor, and it ended badly for him. There were some deaths resulting from a bad driver killing most of a family during a crash. He was convicted after leaving office.
My personal favorite 'scamp' was Paul Powell, a former Illinois Secretary of State. He died suddenly almost 40 years ago, and what was found made for lots of amusement here in the Land of Lincoln. I'll include a quick blurb about him, and keep in mind this was a looong time ago. Remember that one hundred thousand bucks was a nice chunk of cash, and he had a tiny bit more than that stashed in his closet.
Anyway, just thought I'd chime in here,
Martin

Not surprising at all. every politician likes to get their hand in the money jar... first it is "clean" election and re-election contributions but as the cash continues to roll in... it can be embarrassing...
lots of "reformers" get a taste for a quick couple grand, a vacation, a job for the wife or kids and loose themselves... corruption is politics and ti knows no country or borders... they are all corrupt... accept it and make the best of what they allow you.
how often can you walk away from a virtually untraceable briefcase filled with $100 bills?
trust me.Be just and fear not.

Thanked: 150You would enjoy seeing that?
He, apparently, has had no involvement in the matter at all. I can understand wanting justice to be done, but there is no reason (yet, admittedly) to believe Obama could be implicated in the slightest.
