Thanked: 9It was more of a joke. And yes the military does lay off people. They have alot of names for it, one would be "Force Shaping" when they recruit to many..also if you are attempting to reenlist you have to go through and basically apply to keep your job. only the most qualified and best rated gets to reenlist. If you don't get chosen you dont get to reenlist. If there is war and they need more people.......

..."But your flag decal won't get you
into heaven anymore.
They're already over crowded
with your dirty little war,
and Jesus don't like killin'
no matter what the reason for,
And your flag decal won't get you
into heaven anymore."

Hey Mark, Anxious to get to 4000, are you
Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.
To spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the Last Day

I think he wouldn't get the posts in that way though, is it a song? maybe you could post the chorus between each verse?
I understand what people are saying, support the troops, even if you don't care for the reasons and policies behind what is happening. sadly the flip side is that when people speak out against THE WAR, they are labeled anti-American, told they don't care about the troops etc. In reality they care more about the troops.
I have a major problem with HOW we go to war. throughout history if you won you owned, thus the phrase "to the victor go the spoils". The U.S. goes in, conquers, then pays them to rebuild. I have many other issues, that most people find horrifying. for instance, to me American lives are more prescious than our enemies lives (if I were Iraqi I would feel the opposite, I believe everybody out of a good sense of naitonalism should attach more value to their countrymen's lives, especially the politician spending them) we are so worried about the world's opinion that we end up losing soldiers. so I'll say it now, when in doubt, blow it up, shoot it, never take a chance. war is hell (from what my dad told me after two tours in vietname). give a warning, let them know, women and children evacuate (if they could be a danger make them strip, yes, horrible, offend their modesty. but if they don't want to die let them show they have no weapons, aren't wired, and move them aside) then blow down the house, building, city.
We always try to fight wars to a very high standard, rather than the standard of our enemies. they don't respect the lives of their own people, we can't expect them to respect the standards we have. I know probably a lot of you will get angry with this, and I've gone off topic. It's not a popular thought, but our enemies need to fear us more than they fear themselves. every time I hear about an american soldier getting killed by an roadside bomb my blood starts to boil.

Thanked: 271I think WHY we go to war is just as important. As for the part that "they don't care about their own people", I think that the same can be said about us. We send our soldiers to god-forsaken places that they have no business being in, we don't give them the proper equipment and we don't care for them properly when they are hurt.
