Dammit, I knew I should have called that place before I drove all the way out to Wal-Mart to find nothing!

Not the first occurrence lately either. This case resulted in the victim's death.

What really happens is that the "encounter" is staged police so that it looks like criminals are trying to escape, guns are planted on them to make it look like the were attacking the police.

It gives the cops an excuse to simply gun down the criminals and skip the courts.

    "encounter killing" = "vigilante justice"

As much as we might sympathize with that "quick justice" in many cases, there's no justice in it at all. I would not want to live in a society where the cops are sometimes judges/executioners, too - according to their current mood.

Personally I have no sympathy for those 3 guys...
I see the police there are being criticised simultaneously for both failing to react quickly, and for overreacting. Damned when they do, damned when they don't. Much the same as here in the UK and in the US. The police are always in the wrong, the suspects are always having their rights violated.

How I wish we could keep it simple and apply exactly the same standards to the police and suspects.

    from TFA:
"The main suspect Srinivas and accomplice Sanjay and Harikrishna were shot dead when they allegedly attacked the police party which went to recover a motor cycle used by them in the incident at Mavunoor on Friday night, SP Warangal V L Sajjanar said.

"They (accused) tried to spray the acid and the weapons and the knives. And so our people reacted and the three accused were killed. Definitely they had criminal intention to harm us," said Sajjanar. "

Sounds like the police were defending their lives. There's nothing vigilante about that, it's simple self defense. Here in Texas people use lethal force to defend themselves all the time.

My friend... just because the police says so does not mean that is how it happened.

The whole idea is to cover up the story. I would really like to hear from the 3 dead fellas as to what happened.

How did they get their hands on acid and weapons after being arrested put in jail, and in police custody for 7 days.

I guess I have heard of and read about "encounter killings" happening so often that I know what is going on. It is just difficult for someone who does not know about it to actually believe that this happens.

Just because the police say so doesn't mean they're lying, either. Hopefully Internal Affairs will investigate, and the truth will be known.

Until then, I refuse to condemn policemen for what sounds like doing their job correctly. If it comes to light that they abused their power, I will be the first to cry for their blood. But they claim innocence, and as far as I'm concerned, they are innocent until proven otherwise.

    No offense ...
I know about the bureaucracies in the Indian Government and fell to the floor laughing when you mentioned Internal Affairs... there is no such thing.

We here in US are so spoiled with a working government, justice and equality.... we really loose appreciation for it.. until you see another countries mess.
