Okla. Man Dies Days After Acid Attack - Oklahoma City News Story - KOCO Oklahoma City
Well good god. I had a bottle of sulfuric acid not too long ago, and the only thing on my mind was keeping it off me and cleaning my chrome. Even if I wanted to hurt someone that bad, I don't think I could throw acid at them, if only for the fear of getting it on myself. You could line up Hitler, Stalin, and Uncle Ho, give me a vat of acid and turn the other way, and I would probably ask for 4 beers. I guess some people just aren't right in the head.

Man, I wear elbow high chemical resistant insulated gloves when handling muriatic to clean out rust from my mini-bike gas tank, these freaks carry it around throwing it on people.

I think the woman is justified in asking same fate for him, I think the same type and quantity of acid should be thrown on his face just like he did to her. I have no problem at all with eye for eye. my problem is when it isn't a physical/personal crime. i.e. theft, graffiti, destruction. I personally think that those cases punishment must be severe enough to deter the crime. here in the US with the ACLU and all the overzealous idiots that are more into human rights for criminals than for the honest keep things from being done in a way that would cut out the majority of our crime.

somebody steals, cut off a finger (in our society there is no reason for theft, even the homeless are given food and often shelter). they run out of fingers, hand. they spray paint the backside of my wall behind my house, cane them like they do in singapore. you take some punk ass that thinks he's hot, and in front of his house where his neighbors, friends, family can watch, give him a good beating. humiliation is gonna work harder on him than pain. not going to take too many of these events for it to stop. some jackass just dumped their old car tires on the side of the road behind my house (I'm backed up to a main street). come on, they take them for free at tire places. you're that lazy? and last I heard they had made it here where I live that if somebody else dumps s*&t on your property and you don't dispose of it within a certain amount of time YOU get fined. what's this world coming to. catch a few of these illegal dumpers, impound their vehicle for 30 days (fitting since they used it for the crime) and make it media center. won't be too much more of it going on.

vigilantism (word?) is not always bad. my wife visited guatemala about 3 years ago for language immersion. she said they have the "night watch" which is comprised of the men in the neighborhoods. they wear masks, take shifts and patrol the streets carrying machetes, clubs etc. and whistles. if somebody sees someone committing a crime they blow the whistle, converge, and beat and detain for police or other such action. talked to a friend of mine that is a native of guatemala. he said when the night watch started there was a real high crime rate there. initially they were killing criminals too. he said they made a real impact on the crime rate. I guess they've never gone away and are unnoffically sanctioned.

I know a lot of people will disagree with me on this, but I think we need some of that vigilante justice in the US. (let me say though I don't think the cops are the ones to do so. I have an inherent distrust of police and especially the justice system they are a part of. they already abuse and misuse the power that they have, and often put revenue and glamour above actual public safety.) Except Texas, I've not been there but from everything I hear they don't have much problem. probably that whole if they set foot on your property you can shoot them thing. if we had that in California you'd see a sudden plummet in crime rates. Here though you almost have to provide intruders a meal and hot shower.

and one more thing, off topic, I'm sure you'd get sued for it here but we should be able to fortify, though we ideally shouldn't need to, our houses like they do in 3rd world countries. my father-in-law's house was burglarized a year or so ago, they just cleaned them out, and their kids stuff too. really traumatic for the family. I think they found out it was 3 teens. climbed the block wall behind his house (block wall behind mine is like 10' on that side, good luck). If he'd had glass shards along the entire top like the walls around the house I lived in in the Philippines that s*&t would have stopped right there!!!

last thing. I believe there should be a law, "during the committing of a crime a perpetrator shall have no rights". meaning if he's robbing you for instance and you shoot him and he doesn't die, he can't sue you. he was breaking the law, therefor had no rights. yes, AFTER he surrenders or is arrested he has to be treated justly under the law. but until such time, he's outside of Justice' protection. he chose to step out from under that umbrella of laws, he cannot enjoy them. and families can't sue for dead loved ones. It ****es me off to no end when I see a family on t.v. after their loved one has been killed in a shootout taling about how wrong the cops were, how great the person was, a father, a son whatever. look, he was a frickin' criminial COMMITTING a crime. when cops got there he should have thrown up his hands and said "my bad!" not shot at them.

I lied, one more one more thing. again preface by saying NO FAN of law enforcement. but many people make the mistake of thinking cops are overboard in shooting somebody that attacks them with a bat, knife etc. there is a 7 yard limit to encounters. if a guy has a knife and is within 21 feet of me and I do not have my gun pointed at him (i.e. its at my side) he can cover that distance and get to me before I can raise it and shoot. that's why there are encounters where a guy rushes at police and is still 15 feet away and gets shot and people freak out. they can't take that chance.
