Thanked: 271Fifth Annual Israeli Apartheid Week, March 1-7, 2009
I realize that, as a group, SRP is very hostile to certain of my ideas, but some injustices are so great that even a basically apolitical guy like me feels compelled to speak out. There are certain things that, if seen and understood, must be protested otherwise one feels a coward.
March 1-7, 2009 is the Fifth Annual Israeli Apartheid Week. Educational meetings and protests will take place in more than 40 cities around the world. For those of you who are interested in learning more, I offer this link.

Perhaps you'll entreat the attendees to this fine gathering to drop their philosophical commitment to bring about the destruction of Israel, and to nicely ask Hamas and Fatah to stop lobbing missiles into Israel. If they are so inclined, that is. On second thought, why waste your breath.
By the way--if you find you're having a hard time locating some of the attendees, try looking behind the children. They like to hide behind them...

Thanks for that Chimensch. I am very sorry that I will not be able to get to any of the events in London. It is good to know that there is an organised demonstration of the strength of feeling & disgust at the actions of the Israeli armed forces in Gaza. I have never been to Israel. Nor would I want to support a country & economy which is based on segregation & enforced resettlement.
Like the 20000 of us in London in January? The Israeli army committed war crimes on a monumental scale with impunity because they know that the US will never call their government to book for its actions. I would go further & say that it was approaching genocide. I do not agree with the rocket attacks, but is it really necessary to bomb a territory back into the middles ages then refuse to allow aid through?

I'm with fully with you Chimensch and I spoke out to some of our Israeli SRP-friends (some in occupied territory) that enhance this community of ours. In private that is. Amongst friends and gentlemen one can of course always confidently speak ones mind in good spirit.
Nevertheless: nothing surer to threaten gentlemanly gatherings than heated public political debate, especially when principles, morals and religion enter. The graver the perceived injustice, the easier the insult. Let's not go down that road.

I believe the Israeli's have the right to exist without being attacked by extremists throwing bombs at them, daily. They have the right to defend themselves. Especially against a government, Hamas, that has vowed to destroy them, and has no intention of living peacefully.

Thanked: 271You are entitled to your opinion but it is not based on facts. Just because Israel says that Hamas doesn't want peace doesn't make it so. There was a six-month cease fire in which Hamas promised to stop firing rockets, and kept its word, and Israel promised to life the embargo, and didn't. Israel simply lies but your emotional comittment doesn't allow you to see or admit that. I'm sorry, but those are the facts.

Hamas has stated more than once that it does not and will not recognize Israel, nor israel's right to exist. Hamas, and other enemies of Israel, have stated more than once that there will be no peace with Israel, and it will be wiped from the map. Is this true?
Do you somehow claim that this is not "based on facts?"
We know you believe strongly in your cause. I saw your anti-israel "joke" at the other forum. Your position is clear. Claiming that Hamas wants peace with big-bad Israel is not going to win you any converts among thinking people.
