Major Tom commits suicide! Good one!
Did someone say this thread is 80's heavy? I dig the 80's music:

"Good heavens Miss Yakamoto you're beautiful!"

I was thinking about 80's girl groups but The Shocking Blue (a Dutch group) was the real one hit wonder asociated with this song. Although Bananarama's version hit the charts, they had a few hits so they are disqualified:
YouTube - Venus by Shocking Blue

Some of these videos are hilarious. In this one they are all against the wall. I wonder what was happening in ther rest of the space that they had to keep out of the frame.

Woops, didn't realize we were on 80's girl groups.

No we're not "on" anything in particular. I guess I was sort of thinking out loud.

I had a record collection of over 3000 albums and 5000 singles but my second wife decided that she needed those records more than I did. I had to start again with CDs. Some stuff I doubt will ever be available again. But this is fun for me.

Here's an older one. Although in my mind Commander Cody had more songs, I guess the reality is that this was the only song he recorded that hit the charts:

That's how I feel about David Essex, I still remember sitting up in my room with huge cans on my ears listening to my dad's old Essex albums, but I don't think anything other than Rock On was really popular, I could be wrong though.

A great song, even when you work out what the title means...

AAAAAAHHH! This thread is planting these dopey songs into my head! Teen Angel has been rattling around in my skull since last night.

Rock On is probably one of my top twenty favorite songs. David Essex was way ahead of his time with that one.

Here's one I used to pull out when it was time to play vinyl:
