is she a confirmed lesbian? because that would be VERY HOT. if so, it is bizarre she would say that.

However, if she isn't, why shouldn't she get to say what she actually believes? and isn't it hypocritical of people to say she isn't entitle to believe that way or that there is something wrong with it? I do support gay marriage, I don't care who marries who, I'm not here to police others. still, her making that statement doesnt' bother me. if there was proof that she had campaigned to prevent homosexuals from having the same rights as heterosexual, then I could see a reason to be bothered and give her a hard time. Because everybody is entitled to their own opinions and as long as they aren't hurting other people (hurt feelings doesn't count in my book) then it shouldn't bother anybody.

I find it irritating that somebody like perez hilton gets so much press and a spot judging based on the fact that he's a gossip blogger. remember when gossip was BAD? I don't watch pageants anymore. in my book it is patently wrong to have a beauty contest and not pick the hottest woman to win, there isn't always a clearcut hottest chick, but there are times they pick one that clearly ISN'T to win. B.S.!

I don't think it is prohibited by the way so much as not recognized. My friends are married but in CA, since so many IDIOTS voted to pass prop 8 a CONSTITUTIONAL ban on same sex marriage, it isn't recognized. employers will still recognize their partner status or whatever it is considered, and benefits etc. carry, but I guess legally they don't get all the same rights.

What really amazes me, and maybe I should start a thread on it, was the campaign waged here in the state to get that amendment passed was down right dirty. and it was spearheaded of course by Christian groups. I don't remember the part of the bible that talks about it being okay to tell bold faced lies if it gets you the result you think is right.

sorry for getting off topic. She has a right to her opinion and to express it, as much as others dislike it. It's still the United State of America. and though her wording was unusual, it was actually a correct statement, she just said it much different than most would have.

    Great post!

    1) If she said "I don't think balck men should be allowed to marry white women," would that still fall into the "she has the right to voice her opinion" category? I also feel she has the 1st Amendment right to say it, but I belive that speaking out against it is not just excusable/justified, but morally required.

    2) I think you are right, that those states who have passed amendments do speak to "not recognizing" same sex unions, not prohiniting them to the point of arresting priests/rabbis/shaman/ship captains/judges and justices of the peace that perform them.

The way the anti-rights movement tends to promote their bans is reprehensible. I find that true when the rights concerned are marying who you wish and arming oneself to protect one's family. Hence the fact that I have ****ed off my liberal friends equally with my conservative ones!

correct, the first amendment protects your right to be an asshole. while i don't agree with anything this bimbo said, i would defend with my life her right to say it.

What interests me is the question. This is a non political contest and she was asked a political question! It would be akin to judging Barney Franks Political abilities based on his looks! Bassackwards if you ask me.

I totally agree with you, Jimbo! A question like that does NOT belong in a beauty pagent.

She would have that right also as you would have the right to disagree, but as I stated Its a beauty contest for Petes sake! She is not running for office! The question was out of place, but since it was asked it gave her the right to answer it honestly.

Very true, but since you're bringing up the bible, do you remember the parts of the bible that talk about the types of fornication and unnatural uses of the male and female organs? If you do then do you also remember that it tells of those committing such acts (along with other sins listed including lies) shall not inherit the kingdom of God?

Wow. It's not as much about her opinion as it is more about whether she has a right to freely express that opinion, especially when prodded! Besides which, I contend that the question was out of place.

Was that the OT or the NT?
