That is a prime example of totalitarianism IMO and the county officials responsible for the travesty will be soundly defeated in court I think ..... I hope. Reminiscent of the famous quote;
First they came for the Jews
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left
to speak out for me.

I live in San Diego County. My first residence in San Diego was on Florida and University. Right across the street is an adult book store. "F Street Book Store" is the name. They have a lot for parking and it holds about 6 cars. Parking was a nightmare on Florida St. Especially Friday and Saturday nights all due to the book store. Many people called to complain about the problem and not once did I ever see officials come out to talk to the people who lived on that street or the book store. I lived there 13 years.

County Official Defends Home Bible Study Citation - San Diego News Story - KGTV San Diego
turns out they were violating zoning laws concerning parking, religious or not. from the sound of it, you could be cited for having a barbeque worshipping all powerful Atheismo and the same thing would have happened.
there are restrictions where I live about having big gatherings, regardless of content, it's pretty standard boilerplate in most HOA covenants. the official in this follow up interview states that he was concerned about being able to get fire trucks in because of the parking situation.
also, it should be noted that the PD wasn't randomly picking on them, they had rec'd multiple complaints about people parking all over from the neighbors.Last edited by jockeys; 06-04-2009 at 06:22 PM.

Is it just a few county officials that "overreacted", is it our democracy that is slowly decaying? The fish always stinks from the head downwards... and it takes quite a bit of effort to get a fresh one.
